It did here too, Honeybee. In a way it is kind of a relief. Now I don`t have nearly as much to worry about outside. I guess this is to give me a break also.

P. Vitifolia is an everbloomer so I'm not surprised to see it blooming. Mine would never bloom until just at frost time for me. Rarely saw a bloom during the summer months. Very pretty passiflora.

busybee,

I just get sick going out to
my GH, all my borders of huge Crinum are mush, my Sky vine, Mexican Flame & Gingers are brown. I know we are very lucky to have short mild winters & long growing seasons, but when we go from 80 to 28 degress in 24 hours, it breaks my heart. We work so hard to get everything watered & fed all summer & it is all gone so fast. As you can tell, I don't do well with out dirt under my finger nails. Hope we have a very erly spring!

And you can hate us CA gardeners, too, our temps are in the high 50's-low 60's and with the winter rains starting, our garden will be really bursting into bloom in another month or so! I have a passiflora very similar or identical to Rylaff's. The occasional nighttime cold temps have shriveled a few blossoms but at the least hint of sun the vine pumps out more flowers.

Here's a picture of an unnamed dark purple iris that I have planted in various beds; it has bloomed sporadically ALL YEAR -- it's like getting a surprise present every week to see where it's blooming next. At the moment I have at least a dozen of them sending up flowers.

On the down side, I've been spreading the Sluggo as I keep catching baby snails emerging. And the rain makes the fallen leaves stick to the ground so they're hard to pick or rake up.

Jkom,
glad your fairing better then I am. We have already had more freezes then we did ALL of last winter. My hibiscus tops are black and my entire Bleeding Heart Clerodendrum is too. Poor things, they don't know what hit them.
So gloat away, you tar bearers! LOL

It did die back to the ground. However, it is just now starting to put out leaves from the base of the plant. That is okay, at least it survived.
