I'm wearing shorts and a tee shirt. Eat to much...start having hot flashes. Nothing special for the two of us. Just fried chicken, scalloped oysters, corn on the cob, and pies. Didn't want to have to eat leftovers for a week. Played on the computer and talked to Kell and Iowagal on the phone. That's about it from Iowa!!

I am still stuffed! We went to a buffet in San Francisco that was excellent. Today the kid is coming home and we will go for sushi. But I miss having a turkey! And I wouldn't have minded one of Brugie's pies.

Anyone have a fried turkey? I have heard so much about them this year.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Kell ... we have a Christmas potluck at work on our last day, and the guys in the shop deep fry about 8 turkeys. They are so moist and taste so good. Each turkey is injected with differant types of seasoning. We have been having them that way for about the last 4 yrs. Really good!

YUM Deb!! Which is your favorite seasoning to use?

We had Thanksgiving dinner at our house, but only 11 of us were here instead of the usual 21. Our son couldn't come home and our youngest daughter and her familiy went to her husband's family's get together in Ft. Worth. I really lucked out this year, because all I had to cook was the cornbread dressing and the giblet gravy. One of my daughters and her husband brought the turkey, a roast, candied yams, mashed potatoes, ambrosia salad and homemade yeast rolls. Another daughter brought 4 pies and a green bean casserole, and another daughter brought a broccoli rice casserole, cranberry sauce, pumpkin bars and olives. We had a wonderful get together, but boy am I tired. They all arrived between 11:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. and stayed until after midnight last night.

Yes we had two fried turkeys, they are delisious, taste like chicken to me that way, really juicy!! My FIL injects them with something don't know what, and he fries them whole ,in the deep fryer out side 4 1/2 minutes per pound ( example 12 pound turkey x 4.5= 54 minutes) we also had squash casserole,,, sweet patatoe, casserole sweet, patatoe pie, dressing two kinds, dumplings, turnips, brocolli casserole, white peas, hot sauce (tamatoes onion sugar hot pepper boiled down to a thick salsa)over the peas, ham, rolls, and red velvet cake I had lost 35 pounds I must say HAD!!

Hey Deb. (See above) Are there two of you now, after eating a lot of turkey or did I have too much of Owen's cake? LOL!! http://davesgarden.com/t/409299/#new Down about half way in the thread. I like deep fried turkey except that it does get kind of a hard crust on it.

I had a great dinner at my daughters house. They had four guests so there were 7 of us. The way she roast the turkey with all the seasonings and breastside down, it was soooooo good. We also fixed mashed potatoes and gravy. Sweet potatoes with the syrup and marshmallows. Green bean casserole, baby carrots, pumpkin and apple pie. She made me a turkey sandwich to take on the plane with me coming home yesterday. Actually go home here at 11:30 am today. It had snowed here ,but mostly gone. Quite a lot of snow in Spokane. Was really foggy half of the way home couldn't drive more than 50 mph. Sure was glad to get home but had a wonderful time with my daughter. Donna
