L'Amour

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Just a heads up, the L'Amour's on e-bay were mine. I am not one to whine about things, so here is what I have to say on the subject. My husband is out of work has been so since the first of September, so now I am trying to pay all the bills by myself, I am not complaining I love my family and I will do what I have to do to put food on our table, without begging. If anyone was unhappy with their purchase I will try my best to make them happy, becasue it was never about making a buck off of anyone unfairly, and I don't think anyone else would say that about me. Now with that being said, I have been accused in private e-mail by a member here, of jacking up the price of it myself. Not true. I try very hard to be fair in my dealing with people, because that is what I expect in return, and it is just the right thing to do. I try to send "gift" boxes when I can, asking nothing in return, not even postage. I just don't post openly for postage, because of having to deal with 50 request. So to be judged the way I was is not only unfair but uncalled for. I think you will find that if anyone has a problem with my things all they have to do is say so and I will make it right, to the best of my abilities. Don't bother asking who the culprit was, I won't say, not my style. Just know that I am doing what I have to do, and nothing I don't think anyone else wouldn't do in the same situation. Thank you, Tracey Plunk aka AngelsbyAshley

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Tracy, good brugs on ebay don't need the seller jacking up the price. I'm in the same boat as you (different circumstances but..) and I've seen the prices reflect interest. Shrug it off and keep selling. :)

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Tracy, I shop on Ebay all the time, and I certainly know that in my case, if I'm willing to pay a lot for something, it is because I really want it. If it gets to be more than I can afford, I quit bidding. I don't think anyone's arm was twisted to keep bidding. In the case of L'Amour, just about everyone that loves brugs is dying for a rooted one. If someone wants it badly enough, and can afford to pay the price after a number of people have bid it, more power to them. Sounds to me as if someone is just mad because they couldn't afford it and are mad because they got outbid. Just be happy that you got a good price and don't worry about it.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Tracey, with the cost of fertilizer and chemicals, i don't blame anyone for making money on their good plants when they can.
I did bid on your lamour, but someone on ebay by the name cliff dweller had me beat every time i bid, it popped up cliffdweller had the winning bid, 5 of 6 times, til i quit. i didn't start bidding until 10 minutes or so before the end. it was the first time i ever bid on anything on ebay, so i am not sure i understand. i don't know why i thought cliffdweller was your ebay name, or Liz's.
let not your heart be troubled, you are very well liked on the forums and have beautiful brugs.
Several of my brug friends have lamour now, so i will have it soon.
you should put your new hybrids up on ebay, they would really go for money.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

I can't believe somebody has a problem with a price on ebay. Everybody bids by their own free will, if they don't like the price all they have to do is stop.
Like tiG said it's all a matter of supply and demand.
I hope you have more to sell before the market gets flooded.
You don't have to explain or apologize for anything.
Good luck,
Kris

So sad the way things are now. No one wants to take responsibility ...even when the choice was Their's.

I don't know cliffdweller, but I do know that he posts over on GW. I've seen him for a long time there. My friend is a member at Yahoo Brugs and says he's a member there. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

Tracy.....you go girl. I just wish I knew more about brugs, I'd be there bidding also!

Brinda :)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

What a shame someone had to write you a mean email. Nothing wrong with selling your brugs on eBay Tracey. You go for it and I hope you get tons for each plant!

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Arlene, Cliffdweller kept beating you by using the proxy bid system ebay has. You can put in a maximum bid, for example $100, the computer will keep overbidding everybody until the maximum of $100 is overbid by somebody else. If the bidding stops before your maximum then thats what you end up paying.
It's a good tool if you really want something, but don't have time to sit and watch the auction.

Riverside, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi, Tracy, I was one of delighted bidders who won one of your plants on Ebay. The plant is hard to come by, and I felt it was worth every penny of what I paid for it. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with people making a profit.

I, for one, hope that you can continue to supplement your family's income off the sale of your garden produce. You needed the money, I had it and wanted the plant. Nothing can be fairer than that. It's probably a waste of time to explain to some people that there's nothing wrong with success in a business endeavor of any kind, as long as it is honest. Just my two cents worth.

Vickey, a happy customer

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Not me Arlene, I've never bid on eBay. People don't ship plants up here.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Okay everyone...listen up here. This is all my mistake. I was written an email asking about this auction. I knew what Tracey's name was and I knew the name of the person who bought the first plant. Inadvertantly, I put the buyer's name in my email when asked about the seller. I certainly didn't intend to make this mistake and I'm so sorry that Tracey received this email she talks about because I know that my mistake made the emailer think that Tracey had a seller name and a buyer name. I'm certainly sorry, and I have written the people concerned to express my concern that I was lax in re-reading my emails before sending. Tracey, I'm so sorry that I messed this up by my mistake. I would never wish you this kind of heartache and I think you know I would never do this intentionally. Had I not gone back and re-read my emails, I would never have figured out why this happened. Please everyone, don't hold anything against the person Tracey talks about. It was my fault and I will take the blame for the misunderstanding totally. I hate this a lot and will make no excuses for what happened on my end other than knowing that I better check what I write before sending and I hope this never happens again by me or anyone else. I am truly sorry this happened. Please forgive me my mistake.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Tracey, I don't fully understand what has happened but I will say one thing . . you don't owe anyone an explanation for what you do and actually it is no one's business what you do. Anyone that knows you at all, knows that you are very professional, honest, ethical and a generous person with a kind heart. It is beyond my imagination how anyone could accuse you of doing something under-handed. Anyone can bid as high as they want on Ebay and they can also stop bidding when they want. What a crazy thing for someone to say regarding you pushing the bid up.

I just don't get it when people say things to delibertly hurt another's feelings and feel they have the right to attack another.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hey Shirley, we love you girlfriend!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Shirley, I agree with Kell 100%. . you are a special lady and a dear friend. I still do not understand everything but then I don't need too. I am sure that those involved do. It is because you are such a special person that you have spoke up and posted what you did and I admire you for that.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thank you Frannie and Kell. I have so many good friends here that I wanted to try to make it right. I do hope that we will get past this and just go on with enjoying Daves the best way we know how....without fighting or accusing. I can't say anymore.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Brugie, you are such a sweetheart. There is not a mean bone in your body. We all know that. You have never hurt anyone's feelings. You are one of Dave's greatest assets and I do not say that lightly!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

This is not Shirley's fault at all, so please don't hold this one against her. If there was a question about the price on e-bay all that needed to be done was, e-mail and ask, not send me a nasty e-mail making remarks that I had driven up the price myself. Certainly not making remarks, about people I consider to be my friends, and people I don't even know. Poor Liz got involved in this whole mess and I have never even e-mailed her once that I can remember. Thank you for the kind words from everyone. I hope that everyone that got plants from me enjoys them as much as I do, I so love them. No more e-bay for me, to many wolves in sheeps clothing.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Shirley, I think that you are a very sweet generous person, who has a lot of integrity to get on here and post what you just did. In my estimation, you rate a perfect 10+. I also think that Tracy showed her honesty by posting what she did. If she had done anything that wasn't on the up and up, she certainly wouldn't have said anything about it.

Both of you are great gals and everyone should know that.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Whew glad that's all settled. Sorry Tracey and Brugie you had to go through this. Hope all is well for everyone involved. I'm with Kris. You bid what you want to. No one twist anyones arm. It is illeagle for a seller to drive a price up. I forgot what it's called but they would be kicked off e-bay forever if caught and buyer could get out of the deal if that were the case. I honestly don't believe Tracey would do such a thing anyway. Tracey & Shirley you two are both great Ladies.

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

Tracey, don't let this person shy you away from ebay that is a great way for you to get the money you need right now. It is hard when you have to take care of your self, you grew the plants you should do what ever you want to with them. I too bid on one of your L'amours but got outbid you have great plants and well worth what-ever they end up selling for, I thought your starting out price was a little low for an l'amour, but then that is my Opinion.....Take care hope everything works out for your finances
amanda

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Can I just say ditto to all of the positives here?

If Tracey was and i'm not saying she is the person bumping up the price wouldn't it be defeating the purpose? Suppose at the end she was the high bidder. Kind of stupid when you think about it isn't it? When I got my L'Amour off of ebay I paid, if I remember correctly somewhere around $68-70. I don't know who was bidding against me be it the sellerr or whoever, but I had the money and I wanted the plant so I kept bidding. No one twisted my arm. I did it of my own free will. So all you ebayers remember that when you're doing your bidding. No noes twisting your arm, except maybe yourself!!!

Why would someone bid on their own item and risk not selling it at all?

Tracey, just ignore other peoples ignorance, some times they don't know any better.

It's becuase of this ignorance that we've lost a few good people here such as,well I won't mention her name but I think we all know who i'm talking about. Someone who has helped many of us with her knowledge of these plants, has been willing to share with others, etc.

I've only been part of the brug community for 9 months and have seen so much backstabbing and side taking that it is sickining. It just doesn't make any since.

Is there not enough going on in the world already without us having to fight amongst ourselves here over something as stupid as a plant? Don't get me wrong I love plants but I aint gonna argue with any of you over one.

Back to the subject, i've come to know Tracey very well over the past few months and know a little about the story of what's going on in her life right now,but not for a minute do I think that she is dirty or low enough to stoop to the level of doing something such as what shes been accused of doing.

She sent me plants this week and did not ask for one single penny or anything in return and she very easily could have, though I do have all intentions of returning the postage that she paid out of her own pocket.

Don't let um get you down Tracey,I didn't!

Shirley,It takes a strong person to stand up and admit that they were resposible for something. Especially these days.

My hats off to you!!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Ya know I stand by and watch so many things go by on this forum. I have watched friends I really care about be hurt. I refuse to let another one be hurt without saying something. I did not bid on the auction because it was way out of my price. But I can't believe somebody would email you and be nasty. They have a choice how much they bid and on what. No body makes you bid and for that matter it is really nobodies business what you do on another site. If I want to sell my whole garden on ebay what is it to anybody?Tracey is a great person and I have been on the receiving end of her gift packages I know her cuttings are great so whoever got her auction I am sure will be thrilled. There are many people on here that sell on ebay so why is it that she is selling wrong?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

I buy on e-bay off and on and use the automatic system sometimes. It's a great system and sometimes pay's off. But I bid on my own and if it's to high I stop bidding......simple as that. So TLynn I wouldn't worry about a few ruffled feathers...
Dee

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

David ... just so you know ... it was me bidding against you. Did not know it was you. I was one of them bidding on Tracey's auction also.

Tracey - 99% of us here know what kind of a person you are. I would purchase from you, and a few others in a heartbeat if need be in order to get that something "SPECIAL" or "GOTTA HAVE'S".

Shirley - 100% agree with Kell.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone, especially for your understanding. Now, let's let this thread go to the next page and get on with our usual friendly chatter. Thanks!!

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

AHH! So it was you that caused me to pay outlandish prices for brugs!!! Just kidding. I was on a mission with that one.
And the mission was to win,but gee I did I sit and think to myself for a while afterwards, what did I just do?
Wish it was big enough and I knew how to root it,i'd share it with ya!
