so what colors do you think these will be? are they just another sauvleons cross? enquiring mines want to know......
Two more seedlings are blooming
so what do you think? keepers or compost? a few more days will tell.
Since it is so much cooler now, you probably won't see the true color of the blooms. I would keep them and make your decision after seeing them bloom next summer.
okay i will , i think the one is going to be yellow and it has long trendils
I would keep both till next summer. They both have alot of promise!!
They need another chance next summer.
one more of the yellow I really like this one The white one has a wxy shenn to it that you might not see in the picture i really think i like it too they are short blooms i like that also, I can't wait to see th e very last one bloom I might have to cut the stalk and put it in water to see it It is suppose to get down to 28 Tuesday night here.
very pretty! Maybe you could take your cuttings and then cover the remaining stalk with leaves and towels.
Yes i am going to cut them down, and mulch with pine straw and leaves, I will be very busy tomorrow
Good luck with them, Amanda!
Springsong. Hope you are able to save your brugs. And i too think the yellow one is very pretty. Donna
Help!!! I live in south east Arkansas. I have a beautiful, huge Angel Trumpet Tree, over 10 feet tall. It is blooming, the cold is about to get it. I removed two seeds, yesterday, about 6 inches and need to know what to do with them. My tree has yellow blossoms and red blossoms. It is much too large to bring inside. Should it be cut back??? TIA!!!! SherryLike
Sherry, I'd love to see a picture of your tree. Open those pods and see what you have.
Shirley
PS. I emailed you. I also forgot to say Welcome to Daves. Glad you are here. Don't be shy, just jump in and tell us about yourself and your brugs.

Sherrylike, you have yellow and red flowers on 1 tree? So yellow and red on one bloom? Or red flowers and yellow flowers, separate?
WELCOME!!
Kell, Sherry sent me a picture. Maybe she will post it on here too. It looks a lot like a Frosty or maybe Isabella. Right up your alley Kell.....LOL!
Kell, I have mostly yellow flowers on my tree and some 'apricot', that turn darker, on the same tree, they are separate, the apricot shown in the photo I sent this am. The apricot/yellow bloomed at the same time and were breath takingly beautiful, smelled like heaven. But, I learned that 'pretty boy', my tree, is a eunuch!! Who knew??!! He's so healthy, tall, well branched, trunked and the blossoms are to die for. So, now I'll be looking for an appropriate mate in the spring. Is it hopeless??? Also, I wonder why my tree is so big and tall, the only ones I've seen in my area are bushes...
Also, 'pretty boy', my brug, lives on the same street, in dryer soil, as my giant Upright Elephant Ears, who also love their home near the cement pond backwash, I guess the Upees are chlorine addicts. Is there a location on DG where I might locate Upee owners??? TIA!!
Sherry I forgot to say that a lot of brugs begin with yellow flowers, turning to white and then color. These are strange little guys. They all have minds of their own. I grow elephant ears too. Probably my second love, but quickly gaining on the brugs. I don't know how many kinds of ears I have, but Rootdoctor really got me started with them this year. The year before, Arlene gave me one and that is when I thought I should have more, and more, and more......Gosh, another addiction. Pretty soon I'll be out of room for anymore addictions. Here is a picture of Sherry's brug.
I just went over my brug, after a hard freeze this week. I have about 10 major trunks/stalks, whatever. There are two 'new' looking stalks. Are those the ones I should attempt to root?? If so, do I just cut them off, stick in water and change the water weekly??? TIA!!! I love this list, lots of fun...SLike
I love your ears. I have a couple of them in pots for next summer. Sherry, you can take cuttings of any size and put in water until they get nubbies and then put them in soil to root, keeping them warm. Some people have good luck rooting them in water, but I don't unless they are the little skinny green cuttings. I have better luck rooting the woody look pieces. It doesn't take a big piece to root. I've rooted pieces from three inches to three foot.
Looks like it's just you and me, kid, I'm learning lots, thanks, Shirley!! I'll try several pieces and see how it goes. My 'garden' is looking pretty sad, after the freeze, I've got lots of work to get ready for winter and I'm going to up-do the whole place in the spring. Here in the hot/humid south, we can grow justa'bout anything, and that includes specimen weeds, I have a perennial (I guess they all are) weed that saved the life of my Japanese red maple, but that's one of the few weeds I like. One of the reasons I love the brugs and ears, easy to keep weeds away from them...
Uppies Downies innies outties,I want them all.
I have Alo Mac pollen on Alo Zebrina, nothing may come of it,but a guy hasta hope.
Edit to say Welcome my friend, nice brugs, compost nothing yet.
