Anemones coming up - is this bad?

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Hi, all -

I planted 30-40 Anemone tubers in early October hoping for a nice display next Spring. Well..it's been fairly warm here (Connecticut) for all of October and thus far in November and this morning I see they have all come up and are about 3-4" high now! uh oh..will they just die down and come up again in the Spring or will the heavy freeze kill them?

I forgot all about it. I dont think they would move easily now. You will have to remind me again in late spring. sorry about that.

you're gonna get the bulb bug!

Bolton, Greater Manc, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I know aint it terrible!!;) though its gonna cost me a fortune in wire mesh as we have a terrible squirrel problem too. Do you know if foxes like bulbs? I wouldnt have thought so but they are always digging up the plastic coverings on the paths presumably to get to what ever is underneath?

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Foxes eat wurrums and beetles and other such juicy snacks :)
They'll dig around for those

Bolton, Greater Manc, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Yes philomel I thought so. I think they are also responsible for upturning all my beer traps because some of them are too heavy for the crows to move!

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Bet they love those lol, and the alcoholic slug morsels :)
They'll be thinking it's Christmas....

They've been doing it since the spring!! Do you think I should give AA a call!! LOL

so where is KRNYSGIRL who started all this

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

I'm here..sorry - my cat was really sick this weekend and I hadn't gotton back here...

Anway..it's still unseasonably warm in in Connecticut and the anemones are now up about 4" inches. sigh. Mark asked what type mine were..hmm..I think they were the Blada species. Not sure - they were a bag of mixed colors.

I have planted some of the Nemorosa Anenomes. I like their simple bowl shaped flowers and delicate flowers. I have them potted up in a cold dark place so they have a chance to grow some good roots for a while. The shade bed where they will originally be planted isnt ready for them yet.

Hope you get to enjoy your anenomes Krnysgirl :))

A friend has A. blanda in leaf too.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

I have some A. blanda and A. De Caen with leaves here in Z5. This is my first year for them so I hope they make it through. We did have a warm spell last week but they were up even before that when temps were the normal 30-40°F.
