I rescued him from the busy street in front of my house in the middle of town! I wonder if he was a pet - although it is illegal to "possess" one in Texas. I am very careful to not possess him. He just lives in my yard and eats out of my hand. His name is Wal Turtle. Or Walter Tull. We call him Walter. About 10 inches long and 8 inches across. Also wonder how old he is. This is about maximum size according to what I've read. They live to 40 years in the wild. 60 years in captivity.
