No Blankets in the dog house!!

My dogs don't have dog houses because they spend most of their day inside and sleep in my house (and in my bed, much to my husband's dismay, at times!!). But I often see people who put blankets in their dog's houses thinking that it will keep them warm and comfy.
The problem? If you live in a cold-weather climate like I do, the dog goes out, gets wet with snow (or rain)...goes back in the doghouse...the blanket gets wet and can freeze solid. Each year at this time I write a letter to the local papers asking people to please invest in a bail of straw for their dogs....
