I have this plant for five years, but it had never bloomed.
Please, tell me : what must I do ?

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

That bloom was the first one I had in more than 3 years. Recently on another thread here about epis, a woman said she has many blooms by feeding a half-strength fish emulsion every other week in spring and summer. I'm going to try it myself and see if I get more blooms.

Thank you for sharing this advice.
Can you tell me, please, what is a fish emulsion ?

From our Garden Terms: http://davesgarden.com/terms/
Definition of fish emulsion

Definition as written by Terry:
A liquid organic fertilizer made from emulsifying fish byproduct and waste; sometimes containing small amounts of kelp or seaweed as well.

It is a fairly mild organic fertilizer with a NPK ratio of somewhere around 4-1-1, making it a good choice for tender plants and seedlings.

Because of its organic nature, it has a rather disagreeable odor, which is sometimes reduced or eliminated in manufacturing. (However, even the deodorized types can still carry a distinct smell, especially in a warm enclosed environment like a greenhouse. Trust me.)

You are very kind. Thank you. I have never looked in the Garden Terms, but, thanks to you, now I know.
I look forward to use this kind of fertilizer and I'll tell you how it went.

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

I am in zone 3 where we get harsh winter -35. It likes to have cool night and not direct sunlight. A suggestion is put it under a tree and fertilize it with 15-30-15 and alternate with any other fertilizer like liquid seaweed fertilizer.

Welcome to DG, venusgirlcat!

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Thank you, venusgirlcat. Did you ever cut your plant's leaves ? A friend told me that she cuts frequently the leaves. She says that they have male and female leaves. You have to cut some exterior leaves, which must be male ones and so the plant will bloom quicker.

San Francisco, CA

I have recently bought a cutting from an orchid cactus called ackimori hybrid or another name ackeronni hybrid (L) O/R does anyone have a picture of this orchid cactus?Thank you very much!
