Cheryl, they make a long skinny pod that grows fast at first and then just SITS there for months. The pods will be close to the same size as the leaves, but a little bit skinnier, and round like a pencil. I'm not kidding about the waiting forever part, last year I first saw the seed pod in July and it didn't split open until January. The actual seeds are small with furry or fuzzy tails, and they are dispersed by the wind in nature.
If you want to try some seeds and don't have any pods on yours, I'll have some fresh seeds soon on several of my plants. I have regular sized and dwarf plants, mostly pink.

I have taken the seed pods off before they began to split and I opened them....I had to let them sit and dry a day and they really fluffed up.....there are hundreds of seeds in one single pod. I am going to try and germinate some of the ones I have and see how well they do.
Mine are a deep Magenta Red.

Does anyone know the best way to pollinate these and about how long it takes?

I grew some a few years ago from seeds. I don't remember doing anything special with them. I think I just pulled off the furry tails and pushed them into the soil. I know I had good germination because I later had to trade them out. LOL

This thread got me looking at mine and I have a pod!
