Virus help needed

My son called me on the phone about a letter that is supposed to be from PayPal subject "important" I told him to
forward it to me. When it came in my Nortons found a virus in it. I scanned all my hard drive & I am clean but he isn't. The virus is.. w32/Mimail.gen@mm
His detector was not up to date :( He is doing a full scan & the detector stopped on a file in windows director..he had to hit reset to start it back. I hope someone can help us & maybe know what he can expect from this virus. I think Santa is gonna bring him a Nortons now. The one he has is av (something)
