Hi everybody, you guys are sweet! What a welcome! I know i'm going to like it here.

roadrunner, Mapquest says I'm 1 hour from Windridge, PA. I've never been there though.

Kelli,
No, Washington steel is closed but Jessop steel is open!. I can see it from my house! Where did you live? (if you lived here)

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I didn't live in Washington but I worked at Washington Steel when I was in college. I lived in North Huntingdon (Westmoreland County). Do you know what happened to Washington Steel? They seemed to be doing very well when I was there (mid '80s). They were working three shifts six days a week.

Hi Herbie43 from New York! Can you believe it's winter already? I'm in kinda shock over it. I look at my poor little flower beds all bare and just shake my head.

Kelli, my husband says that Washington Steel was boomin' until till '92 or '93 and then the demand for steel went down and drove them out of business. I'm a transplant from Allegheny County but my husband's originally from here.

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

A warm welcome to you, groovytee
