Look at this seedling. Can you see the brown snake skin pattern going up the stem? None of the others look like this. It's sisters are way ahead of it and starting to put out the first leaves.
Is it sick?
I would removed it. It is not normal. Did you use a chemical against mould? Then it could be damaged by it.
I germinate the seeds in paper towels. Before they go in the towels they're peeled, soaked in water and then dunked in a weak physan solution to prevent mold and bacteria... maybe the physan did it?
Why take a chance, Sue?
I just bought the physan on your advice. What strength? Is it in Monika's book?
Sue I thought about this last night and I think, that you have a little of the casing left from the seed attached to the seedling and as it has grown it has damaged the stem. Now I could be wrong, but that is what it looks like on this monitor, I am work using a laptop so I could be seeing things. Boy me and that laptop don't get along, the keyboard is tooooo small! I will keep my fingers crossed for you Sue.

Tracey, that's what I thought at first too. I haven't trashed it yet. It's a special cross and I want it to live. It looks like it's trying to put up it's first leaves but if it's sick I think it will prolly die anyway.
I would isolate it and just watch it for a while.....could be something really simple and would be a waste to trash it.
Can you move it to a place it won't contact other plants?
I wouldn't throw it away just yet. You may even try spraying it again with a weak solution of Physan.......what have you got to lose.
Dee
Not that you want to try it yet, but the stuff scrape off?or is it very hard?
This site might help on application of physan
