Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

Afternoon, folks!!
Wasn't it a gorgeous day out yesterday. The men were still out hunting so I got a wild hair and started moving a pile of quartz rock that had been there ever since I moved in. I moved two loader buckets full. Some of those babies had to have weighed 200 pounds. I kept telling myself, lift with your knees!! Those heavy ones I had to roll into the bucket. These were about three feet long and 8 - 10 inches square. A little leverage went a long way too. I still have 4 big ones that are buried in the dirt, but I just couldn't anymore. Somebody will have to help me with those. It felt good to get out and do something, though. (My legs are so stiff today, I need that iron bar to help me cross my legs!!) LOL
The men called last night and they should be home by this afternoon and will cut up the deer right away. Everyone had double tags (6 guys went) but they only got 5 deer. It was pretty bleak in the area that they were in. Everyone else has been telling me that there are deer up the wazoo everywhere else. Such is luck!!
The bull in the corral was trying to make a fast getaway yesterday by making a hole in the corral. We really need to just take the whole thing down and start over. There are holes everywhere. I pulled a cattle panel in there and wired it up over the hole. He's a little too pudgy to get through, but I didn't want him getting out, eating a bunch of corn, bloat and die for me while I was here by myself. I usually have some kind of wild cow chase while the men are gone, but this time it was pretty quiet. The neighbors are all used to my frantic phone calls. LOL The janitor from work even helped me chase calves in when he was driving by my place, saw that they were out, came to pick me up and we got them chased back in about 10 minutes. Isn't it funny how those little critters can find the smallest hole and every single one of them will be out in seconds?? LOL
Kathleen, hope your electricity isn't out for long. Those generators come in handy, don't they?
Mary, I think I would be practically living in a greenhouse if I had one. You will have to tell us all about your experiences so we can share it with you.
Keep warm everyone. It's supposed to be up to 70 by Thursday. I can't wait!!!
Ruth
