Big Yella..... I can't even count the blooms!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It is loaded right now. This will be the second year it is left outside. Lets hope for a mild winter!

It is so huge. It is taking up a more than quarter of my seedling garden. Unfortunately I let its straight stem lean at an angle. The stem is still straight so I am considering cutting it off and rerooting it and planting it straight up!

Beautiful picture! Its unbelievable, seeing these pictures and comparing it with what you see out of the own living room window!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Gorgeous.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Wow big and beautiful!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

beautiful

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gorgeous. I can't wait to grow mine next summer. Kell, my eyes aren't good. Are the leaves smooth or serrated on the edge?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I agree, my DH is gorgeous, big and beautiful!! And he is all mine!

LOL Brugie, I will have to go out to look but I am 99% sure they are smooth. You think it may be a Dr. Seuss?

Last year we did not get a frost till January, so I am hoping we will still go longer. My Tibouchina urvilleana -Princess Flower is still in fower. And so are my hibiscus. Not heavy blooming, but blooms none the less!!

That's a stunning picture Kell. Gorgeous brug and great looking DH. You are a lucky girl.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Heck no, I don't think it is Suess. Thought Suess had serrated leaves. It is just a beauty. Hey, my Tibouchina that you sent me is in the basement and I was down there a few minutes ago and it had a couple of blooms that had opened and fallen off. Must have opened yesterday. I have had so many compliments on this one. I love it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Well if it does not make it tell me early so I can get another out to you in the early season so it can grow big for you! I love it also. I have it as a backdrop for my front garden and then the backside of them is a backdrop for my courtyard for they tower above my fence.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks. I've tried taking cuttings and doing it step by step like someone told me, but no luck. Hopefully the plant will live under light.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Oh Kell, your Big Yella is just great! You sent me cuttings a month or so ago and I just can't wait til it gets big enough to bloom. It is just beautiful!!!

Brinda :)

Hi Tommmmmmmmmmmmmmm! You're right kell, he is a looker!

You can keep showing that baby (BY--LOL), it never ceases to amaze me! Is the scent similar to DS? Can't wait to see and smell mine! Thanks again!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks Brinda. All that is on one trunk. It suckers huge alley trees, it does not bush like other brugs.

hi Vi! I have DS open now so later I will go out and compare. The entire back yard is fragrant right now. Almost too much with all those blooms.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Beautiful pics Kell. It's hard to send cuttings when your plants don't stop growing isn't it. LOL I think last year it was lated Dec before i got zapped hard.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow! The Big Yella cuttings you sent me are doing nicely. But I have a question. When they get too big for me to bring in for the winter, and I cut them off and mulch them heavily, hoping for them to return in the spring, will they grow big enough in one season to bloom? I don't know what to expect in the spring. Anyone here that can tell me of their experiences with those they cut off in the fall?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Woodspirit, some post that they get faster results just atarting a new plant from the cutitngs then to wait for the roots to resprout. This particular brug is a incredibly fast grower. Just take some good sized cuttings and they should bloom fast. Esp if you cut from the above the Y. But I would go for some below the Y also to get a huge alley tree fast.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Just beautiful!!!!!! The second one is my favorite!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I won't tell Tom Tracey!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Kell, great Brug tree, and so many blooms. Hope you don't get any really cold weather to hurt all those blooms. Donna

Geez Kell, I didn't even see him standing there, I hate laptops..Hi Tom nice to meet you.....yep Kell he is a keeper!

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

Kell:

What a splendid sight! Oh, and Big Yella looks good too! LOL

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

thanks for the info kell. I did mulch the Isabella I cut off, one at home and one at Silvermont (the mansion I keep saying that I volunteer in the archives). I will interested to see how they do in the spring. But I also have about 15 cuttings in the basement, which is heated, so I will have others to plant out that are up and growing......

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Hey kell, how did that sniff test work out?
My DS turns a very dull pumkin shade, nothing like your beautiful orange--they gotta be different--Hope the scent is also :)
