Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

Evening everyone.
I spent the day in needless worry. I had made a deal with someone that just wasn't going right. I was going to trade pasture space for a stud fee for my old mares. There wasn't any grass in this pasture, that didn't seem to matter they were going to bring hay and range cubes. I said I didn't mind feeding the horses (and I didn't) if they would bring me the food. I ran out of their hay about 4 days ago. I was getting real sorry I got in the deal and it was going to be a long winter. I almost sent off a irritated sounding e-mail to them today. But, I decided it's not such a good idea to put some things in writing. Now , I have had some deals with the guy before and all was well. His new girlfriend was putting a new wrinkle into things now. I decided to wait a few more days and see how things went. They showed up here at dark with their big horse trailer and picked up their horses. They are moving to Wyoming. So no stud fee, but no more worrying for me about a bad trade. In payment I recieved a beagle puppy. They said they would pay me, but I was so glad they left with those horses I coulda kissed them both. the puppy is adorable. He will fit in nicely here. Now I just gotta think of a name. He is already howling at the hyperactive rat terrier that is wondering what happened to his private villa. He will have quite a job keeping the rabbits outta the garden. I am expecting great things.
On another thought, I skinned my first deer yesterday. Not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. We had it all ground up in burger. A big doe, with lots of fat. She shoulda been after eating all those soybeans.
Seems the guy that leases our bottomland for soybeans had one of his truck parts stolen out of our barn. He knows that one of his hired hands stole it last summer and he even knows where it is. The sheriff will have to come out and check out some of the other equipment with the same writing on it and verify some things. Why do people have to steal things? Grrr.
