Perhaps someone can explain this to me. Here is a picture of my silk floss trees. One has spikes on the trunk (as it should ) . The other is completely smooth. Anyone explain this one?
Silk floss tree question
Is the spikey one older than the smooth one? They get more spikes as they get older. Even if they are the same age, there seems to be a great degree of individuality among floss silk trees and the smooth one may just be taking longer to get spikes.
Kelli, you could be right. They were started from seeds at the same time. I just noticed that the "smooth" one now has one spike on it. Maybe it is just slow growing them. I was just wondering if there was a male and female or something.
No, there aren't male and female trees with this species.
