Howdy Friends,
No problem here (don't freak!). Just wanted to know something.
When you click on your modem icon to get Connection Details (which I do a lot) it shows the connection speed of course but also the Activity. This is what I'd like to know about.
There is a "Sent" and "Received" column. Under each is "Bytes", "Compression", and "Errors".
I understand the bytes clicking by but have no idea what is meant by Compression. Anyone know?
However, what I'd really like to find out is in the Error dept. Usually under "Sent" there are 0 errors, but under the Rec'd column there is sometimes many. (Right now there is 24.)
Does this mean my modem is not logging on efficiently? Or is there a phone line glitch? Or what? Why do I show "errors rec'd"? And do these errors have an effect on any downloads I might be making?
Connection Details. What's it mean?
