Great picture, htop. That praying mantis really has his camouflage gear on.
Thanks, NoH2O. I had not seen a praying mantis that was this type in a long time. Most of the ones that have been inhabiting my yard have been the green ones in the past five or so years. I was lucky to be able to take a photo with it looking at the camera with its mouth open a little. I took one where it is eating an insect, but it was blurry ... drats! I just hope that my neighbor's cats did not kill it. They have been eating my lizards and birds and there isn't much I can do about it.
NoH20, I was happy to discover that the praying mantis whom I have named "Cami" (for camouflage) has not been killed by the neighborhood cats. Hopefully, it or another has deposited some egg sacs on some of my plants and I will have more of these beautiful and helpful insects.
Maybe one day you will find a bunch of these:

That would be really great. One year I bought about 15 baby ones and placed them in different areas of my yard. When I had a large aphid infestation (my plants that is), I purchased a large supply of ladybugs. After they had their fill in my yard, they travelled to my neighbors' yards, one yard at a time. It was really funny because each neighbor would tell me something like: "Wow, I have never seen so many ladybugs in my life. They are just everywhere." Thanks for the link.
He's quite handsome
When I first so "Cami", it reminded me of my kids when they were quite little posing for their studio photos with shy little smiles on their faces. Thanks for your comment.
