My new website

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

A friend is building me a website about my plant boarding business and plant rental. This is just a basic site right now, she is planning on adding more this weekend. So, check it out and give me opinions. I know you are all nice people and will tell me what I need to know to make it informational.

It looks great Anna! What a great idea. Looking at your site I'm curious to know what plants you will have for rental and what you will charge etc. I hope that info will be added.
Good luck!

Paintedlady, yes, that info should be going up this weekend. I don't have many rental type plants at this point.....2 urns with chestnut vines, 2 urns with flowering thumbergisa (sp??), 2 huge hanging grape ivy, 1 hanging ivy geranium, 1 foxtail fern (small yet), 2 larger ferns, 2 hibiscus, 2 fig trees, 2 dipladenia, and 1 mandevilla. So far.....LOL You know, this is a GREAT excuse to BUY MORE PLANTS!!!!! If the time is right I'm considering using some of my brugs as rentals if they would be blooming at the time of "need". LOL As to rental price, I'm thinking $5.00 for each hanging pot (they are 14 inch) and $10.00 for everything else. The brugs would be negotiable, as they would be a BIG PITA to transport. Any comments on those prices? Too much? Too little? I'm also thinking of having a minimum, in the neighborhood of $100.00. I'm NOT driving 50 miles for 1 or 2 plants. I should add that the immediate area where I live people are loathe to pay any money for anything. If I can make it here, I can make it anywhere. Gee, sounds like a good song lyric....... Hey, Rooty, I'm sure I could come and pick up a KC load if you could arrange it. The more plants, the cheaper the pick-up rate! I have an enclosed car trailer, can cram alot of stuff in there! Here is a photo of one of my rental babies.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Do you put out flyer's everywhere up there, bet this would prompt some attention, or on the midday news announcements, and such... or the radio stations? An Ad in the classifieds even...Im into PR ...can you tell? lol

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Anna, it looks great. I remember when you were fixing up the greenhouse.... seems like just yesterday - LOl!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

WOW,I admire anyone who can make money doing what they love!

The site looks great, and as for delivering, you can charge a delivery fee based on the distance, over what you would drive for free,in other words,if your willing to drive 15 miles for free ,if they want it delivered 30 miles away, charge them for 15 miles @ $.25,the first 15 are free.....

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Way to go Anna. That's a great greenhouse. Hate to think what it must cost to heat it. Plants look so happy.

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

lhughes, it cost about $800.00 to heat it last winter. Will be more this year, my LP went up 30 cents a gallon. So, I came out ahead for last year, as I was hoping to have enough business to at least cover the LP cost. The lady at the gas company said that was good, since last winter was a bad one for heating. I didn't think that was too bad, neither did Spouse.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Your site looks wonderful Anna. Wishing you much luck with your business.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

$800 for the winter, or per month?

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

lhughes, $800.00 for the whole winter.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

That's great. You have a big gh.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

How Awesome! At a loss for words for a greater compliment.

God Bless
Sandy

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks, Sandy. My friend just added some more pix and text to the site last night (Wed.), so there is more there if anyone cares to look again. When I first posted this, all she had up were the basics, but she has done a really nice job for me. Sandy, you probably have seen the new "stuff" that was added, if you looked today. Now, all I need are customers. :>)

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

That is a unique service. Wish something like that was available in my area. I guess the pick-up and delivery charge would be out of question :-)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Congratulations for your new buissness Anna. I wish you luck with it. It is a wonderful idea. Here in Germany, many nurseries offer space for overwintering. They charge EUR 50 for 1qm (I believe 3x3ft.)

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Do you have any pest problems?

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Morph, I had aphids BAD last year about the first of April. I had put systemic in the soil of all of my brugs (they were the worst offenders) and in the pots of alot of the other large plants. I should have done it again in Feb. or March. Live and learn........ This year I chopped all the brugs back and am keeping them de-leafed for the winter. I have noticed a few bugs, but am spraying as needed. I knew I was going to have pests, so it was no surprise. So, I am dealing with it the best I can.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks :)
