I've been offline for awhile...on the 15th of October
my parent's house had a really bad fire. They are fine.
The good news...my son was chosen Rotary Club Student
of the Year (Moose Jaw) and we are very proud of him.
He is involved in all the school plays (lives there) and
still maintained a 95 % average.
Bad New/Good News
So sorry to here about the fire. Not much worse than a fire. Was everyone alright? Or as right as you CAN be.
Congrats to your son.
Thought all the C's had gone into hibernation. Where is everybody?
Hi echoes
Nice to meet someone new...I was glad to see more
Canadians are jumping in.
It was an awful shock and the fire happened just
before our temps dropped (-20F for awhile) but we
are recovering and managed to salvage some treasures.
I imagine the full extent of it will take awhile to
sink in.
Thanks for the congrats...I'll pass in on.
Congrats on your son Pam. Must take after his Mom.
Sorry again about your parent's home, was it your childhood home?
I hope they (and you)work through this OK.
Will be thinking about you.
It was my childhood home...the only grace with fire is
that it makes some things unrecognizeable...not as big
a heartbreak when it comes to throwing.
Have they moved into your grandparent's house yet?
They are settled in. One of the first things my Dad
thought of was covering his martagons so we could dig
them up if we had to.
Good to hear he's thinking about normal day to day things.
I was very, very worried, at first, but they are
handling it pretty well.
I hope their insurance will cover everything. Are they going to rebuild?
Hasn't thought that far ahead yet...he's thrown a few
ideas around but nothing concrete.
Well, you're sounding better anyway. Glad of that.
Thanks...it's taken awhile to get over the shock, etc.
Lily......that is so sad......my thoughts are with you and your family....Elaine
Thank you Roselaine we appreciate your thoughts.
Lilypon,
I'm so sorry about your parents' house and on the other hand so happy that everybody is fine!
Congratulations to your son!
A big hug from Chile,
Ursula
Thank you Ursula...our first thought was people have survived worse than this and I kept reminding my Dad of
this. At their age I really worried about the stress of it.
A big hug from Canada to you! :)
What a shock (although nothing compared to yours). I haven't been checking the postings regularly the last couple of weeks as I thought the canucks were in dormant phase much like our plants. I am truly sorry to hear about your parents' loss - there are some things that can't be rebuilt no matter how good the coverage. Something with which our BC and Californian neighbours have had a lot of experience this year. You all sound like folks who continue to look at the glass as half full though. Let them know we are thinking of them and would help if there was anything we could do.
Congrats to your Son - you must be very proud parents. We will look for him as some future Canadian idol.
Thank you for your kind thoughts...I wasn't going to
post this but some were wondering about my absence and
my email was ignored for awhile. The happy news my son
brought home made posting a little easier.
