Try Linux without installing.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I found a version of Linux called Knoppix. You donwload it and burn it to cd and then boot from the cd. All you have to do is make sure your computer is booting from the cd first. It does not install anything on your computer but lets you use linux and save files. It see's all your windows drives so if you create a document while using linux you can save it to your hard drive. Here is the link the only thing is it's a 700mb download so if you are using a modem forget it. http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=44

I don't know how well it will do with finding modems but it found my network card and connected to the internet with no problems. For internet setup I think you will find it a lot like windows.

Shoe yours is on the way.
