Someone wants me to send a Fuzzy leaf Kalanchoe to them in France. Are there the same problems as sending to Canada??Will they be held up in Customs once they arrive? I posted this on the International Trading forum, but thought more would see it here.
Any Problems shipping to France??
Azalea Ludger may be able to tell you something about that.
My friend in France tells me one needs phytosanitary even for seeds.
I've sent and received seeds from several countries in Europe this summer and there was no problem. I haven't done plants though.
Azalea, if you go to the post office site and klick on global priority mail. You will get a listing of things that are illegal to send to each country.
I just discovered that the other day when looking for rates to ship to Sweden.

Well, I searched and searched and never found a listing for France - but I went ahead yesterday and sent the thing Global Airmail - It was only 6 oz and cost $5.60!!! The told me at the PO that Global Airmail got there the same time as Global Express at about half the price! They also told me that customs will only spot check about 1 in 70!
Sorry Azalea, I forgot one step. First click on "Global Priority", then klick on "Rates by Destination"Here's France http://pe.usps.gov/text/Imm/immicl/immicleg_012.html
Thanks PL- it's too late now - hope he get's it ok. He says he got a plant from NY last week with no problems, I told him it wasn't a good idea but he insisted, and sent postage.
