Gypsy Queen

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Last flush, *sigh*
This pic doesn't do her justice with her color, she's pretty and smells great too!

Looks great. So many brugs, so little time!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Fabulous Vi. She looks great.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Very pretty Vi! I love that happy yellow color with the autumn leaves as a backdrop. It looks like you have as many leaves down in your yard as I do - - the trees here are almost bare now. Nat

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Wow Vi, she is a beauty!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

don't you just love this one??????

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Very pretty!

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

I love the look of your brug with no bottom leaves, just beautiful. This was my first year growing brugs and the blooms didn't hang nice, way to many large leaves. I think I will take off the lower leaves next year. Cathy

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Beautiful! Now I am wondering again, if this Dr. Seuss x aurea type could be Gypsy Queen. I will add a picture to this post to compare.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

This is the picture to compare with. The leaves of mine looks similar to Gypsy Queen.

Very nice

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

It looks like the tendrils are longer on yours, Monika. Here's a bloom to mine in it's summer color. The tendrils aren't real long.

Wow, I am writing that one down. Very nice! They glow!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

I totally agree with Jenks, its beautiful..making a mental note..."Gypsy Queen" Must have lol

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Thank you all! I was hoping soooo much to find out, which hybrid it is LOL!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

monika, is your picture showing two different plants? I notice the tendrils in the front flower are short, but that one in the back has long tendrils.

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

All of the pictures are beautiful.

Tig:

It looks like you have a "Garden of Eden". I wish I were there now. :-)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

tiG, the front flower is older. The tips have been worn off because I have to pass by it all the time. It has longer tips but not as long as on CG.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Gee Monika, hope you find the name for yours, she's a beauty too!

tiG, I adore her! Wish me luck cuz I'm gonna try to drag her into the house (in one piece) tomorrow! She still has so many buds. Can I try and keep her at the same shape or should I cut the right stem (it's pretty bowed)?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Beautiful tree Vi.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Color is beautiful.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Looks great Vi. Yours have lots more flowers than mine :(
How much sun does it get?
Kris

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

vi, you can keep it like that, but I take this time of year to prune for shape.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Not much sun Kris, I rather thought I had goofed by giving too much shade. It's pretty much under my huge Oak and had gotten very late sun maybe 5 till dark, getting more now, of course.

tiG, give me some tips! Cut each 2nd Y and leave (4?) nodes? Keep center open? I do want to keep her pretty!

Rock Hill, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi Vi, a beautiful plant. So many brugs to figure what's what. I, too thought it looked like my Dr. Seuss. That's why I have got to study up more, lol.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

vi, that sounds good, but you have to prune each one just a tad different. if that works on the short side, then match it on the long side.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Violabird, lovely brug, and so very many blooms. Looks like it is growing in a less than 5 gal. size pot, right? The stalks of mine are large than yours I think. The stalk of my Pink Beauty is about 1 1/4" at ground level.

Tig do you think I am trying to grow in too small a pot. The pot holds about 1 1/2 gal. soil. PB is 6 feet tall. It looks quite healthy I think. I will post a not very good picture of it in the GH. Donna

heber springs, AR(Zone 7b)

can anyone tell me what size pot u should put a brug in. i intend to keep them potted.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I have all of mine in pots, Donna. the biggest I use is 5 gallon, but I sink those in the ground. I have tons that I grew in 3 gallons and they are 6-8' tall. don't know that I'd pot it up now though, if it's doing okay, I would be tempted to leave it over the winter in that pot. You don't want to keep it too wet anyway.

werewolf, if they are just cuttings, I'd leave them in the smallest pot possible over the winter. I let mine get a good rootball before potting up to the next size.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks tiG for the tip, thought I'd have to do it before bringing it in--but I got it inside in one piece, lol!
Now if I can take it back out tomorrow... ):

Donna, my pot is too big, wish I had it smaller, but too late now. From now on, I hope to keep them in a 3 gal and buried. I'm real tired of potted brugs blown over from the wind ):
