Just snapped this picture. This is the only time Butterfly has turned this dark for me! This one is living in the garage. Both butterfly plants were fall bloomers for me. Does this plant bloom earlier in the season?

You have that fish doo water right? I have got to get me some fish! LOL I wonder if fish emulsion would work the same way?

My BF only gave me a couple of flowers in the summer and now it has tons of buds opening Kristi.

Kristi, mine bloomed early and all summer and when I took cuttings I cut off several hundred blooms. it was a holdover from last year, maybe it just needs some age. ?

My first blooms were July 6th and up until about ten days ago when I cut them back and put everything in the garage. Like Bonnie, I had tons of blooms/buds on mine when I cut it back.

geez... I must be doing something wrong!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I had a cutting taken last fall and the mother plant. Both bloomed within a day or two of each other.

How big are your cuttings Brugie?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Kristi, great color. i dug mine up last fall and kept protected. it started blooming in april and hasn't quit.
btw, gotta show you your baby... i hope you can see how long the tendrils are, the sport from the maya you sent me, not the maya sport you sent me, lol...

Yep kell- fish poop water!!! That has to be it. Go buy some fish! I wonder Tig? Both plants I had came from two different people yet both bloomed at the same time. The one pictured is in a pot, the other was in the ground. Shirley yours bloomed early too. Did you winter it over as a large plant? Both of mine did come from cuttings. Maybe that is why?

Arlene- Your kidding?LOL My main maya plant hasn't sent out a green shoot since the sport- go figure. I'm guessing they'll be the same? How close is the maya sport(I'm sure I've got everyone confused) from blooming? Can't wait to see it open.

Awesome Kristi mine bloomed all summer too.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, I only take about 3 to 6 inch cuttings in the summer. I probably started that cutting in August.

I am impressed! Mine grew up to be a standard for some reason. Straight and tall. It just finally got a nice canopy.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Mine spread out like an umbrella. Bloomed three times this summer, now have seedpod. Happy here!

Kristi: Think it's got to be that fish water, way to go.....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Good for you Gloria! I am hoping tot get a few seedpods now.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

kristi, mine is a flowering region cutting, it's about a 6' x 6' tree after growing all summer. it never stopped blooming once it started. Harvested all the Bfly seedpods over a month ago here.

This maybe a dumb question-but-what is a region cutting??

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

there are two regions, the growth region (below the Y) and the flowering region (above the Y)
cuttings from the trunk will make taller trees but take longer to flower.
Any cutting taken now should still flower in the next season, no matter where it's from.
