I cut it off yesterday to root it. It was a 7 footer. I noticed the inner layer (cambium??) was a light beige color. Is it supposed to be white? There are no other problems with it.
Anyone know if this brug is sick??
Maybe there was a little rust on the scissor. The tissue of cuttings oxidates very quickly after the cut.
I would say it is not sick.
I have gotten some cuttings, that were brown/tan on cut bottom. I just cut a new place, they rooted well. Do not think it is sick either.
That is good!! Thanks so much. Monika, can you tell if one is virused by the insides?
No, virus mottling is seen only in the leaves.
If you plant would be infested by a 'lethal' virus, it would be dead by now. Many Brugmansias may be virus tolerant but the ones, we call lethal, will kill them also.
Thanks Monika for sharing your expertise.
