Tom finished the hoophouse and made it much higher to accomadate my tall brugs. Now to decide when to start moving them in. They seem to be doing great still, blooming alot!
What a guy!
Excellent Kell. Wasn't it last year that the two of you almost go divorced over putting up the hoophouse? lol
I'll bet he got done in no time at all this year.
Geeze, I hope you told him what a great guy he is. Looks good. Want to send him to Iowa for a while? I could use a little help out here.
LOL I was so bad. Most of the time I spent online chatting with you Brugie! LOL. Then when I finally went out I whined. And to make things worse, he cut the first tarp of plastic 2 feet short and had to go out and buy another roll!
LOL Liz, is that why he was happy I stayed inside? Last year he did nerve damage in his arm from pounding the stakes in. He had severe pain for months. I was so afraid he would not build it this year.
Here is my fantastic man and he is not happy! LOL
AHH ~ the famous TOMMMMMM. Good picture, I hope he's tall.
Kell, I'm sure he is probably very proud of you and your flowers. Your hoop house looks great. Sure wish I had a place to put stuff, but one that didn't cost an arm and a leg to heat. LOL!!
LOL Liz, yes that is my TOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Poor guy! I definitely got the better deal. And he is tall, 6'2"! LOL
He made the hoophouse 12 feet tall this year because I whined for days until he went against his better judgment. If it goes airborne in the first storm you all will hear I TOLD YOU SO where ever you live!
Hey kell, what zone are you in? :) and what are the dementions of your greenhouse :~) Thanks! John
You will like your Greenhouse kell! And I learned a new word: a Hoophouse is the equal for the german word Foliengewächshaus.
Kell, you are so lucky. I wish our homeowner's association would let us have these. I would make my life so much simpler. They are such old fuddie duddies, I wish I lived back in the country with my old greenhouse.
LOL Monika, and hoophouse is much easier to spell.
LOL Shirley! I have two Hoophouses and one Greenhouse, the so called winterhouse.
Sylvia, do you have a spare bedroom? I'm worried that your cuttings won't make it outside if you have a couple of cold months to deal with.
We have a couple of spare bedrooms, but our son uses one when he comes home to visit, and the other one our grandchildren sleep in when they sleep over. Besides, my son absolutely gripes and gripes and gripes if I bring plants in the house. That is how I finally convinced him to buy me a greenhouse at our other house. He says let them all die and start over. Bah Humbug!

Your hoophouse looks great Kell. I have to settle for using the third garage at the new house for all my hoya's and brugs this winter. In the Spring, I will get my greenhouse. Bob is going to have his framer come over and put a wall between the third garage and the rest of the garage so that there won't be as much room to heat. He will be hanging all my shop lights from the ceiling so I can adjust them to the heights I need for given area's. I sure hope it works.
Kell, what a great guy! What a great hoophouse. You're a lucky girl, with all the beautiful brugs and such a nice place for them to over-winter. (Hope a big wind doesn't carry it off).
Hey kell, tell your famous Tommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm 'Hello' from all of us and we sure like the job he did!
I know you must be a happy lady today!
(gotta keep him buttered up ya know)
I'd say that is some guy! Looks great. When do you move the plants in?
Looks good Kell. Now all you'll do is like me,fill it up!!
The hoophouse looks great Kell. Tom did a great job .... I think you better keep him.
Looks great Kell. I was wondering if it could be made taller but then with the summer TS's and hurricanes we get I didn't try.
LOL Deb, the question is - - is he going to keep me? I am so much more high maintenance than he is! He is the one that watered all my plants (he said it took him 2 hours every night) when I was back east for over 2 months this summer. He is the one that comes running every time I yell TOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM when anything goes wrong and actually fixes my problem with a smile. He also is the one that comes outside after I have had a day of gardening and cleans up all my prunings and mess so I can get in for his gourmet meal on weekends. We will have been married 27 years on Thanksgiving!
Now that I have this made the temp is going up to the 70s again! It will fit only about half of my brugs if that. I will mostly put in my alley trees that I would die if I lost to a freeze. Also any brug that has a pod on it.
And poor Sylvia, I have never heard a sadder story than yours from a frustrated gardener! Not only is your son against you but so is your home association. And if I owned that bedroom I would tell my son too bad so sad, get used to sharing his bed with my brugs!!!
OK...I am off to play in my foliengewächshaus! LOL
Congratulations, Kell and kudos to Tom for making it for you :) How wonderful to enjoy the scent of the flowers ALL year!
I brought mine inside and had just a few blooms tonight that opened. I could smell them downstairs and thought, oh, what a wonderful fragrance!
I think I will end up making cuttings as the room seems to smell musty or moldy. I'm not sure if that's normal. I'm not over watering so I'm not sure...
Just a beautiful hoophouse/Foliengewächshaus! How will you heat it? Oh, and did you guys design this from scratch?
Wow, I am impressed Kell! Maybe Tom thinks like Scott, he says quote "It's cheaper to keep her"...He did great.
LOL Tracey, not the way I buy plants!
Probably not, but mine doesn't know everything!!!! I had to grab the CC bill and hide it this time...
So tell all, what did you splurge on? LOL
Kell,he's so cute even when he's looking grumpy!
Now you can keep over sky high brugs!
Brugs....
Hah, I just saw on TV from Hamburg where they are rounding up all of the swans and taking them to warmer waters for the winter =)
they put them in large rowboats and they just sit in the boats like they know what is going on ... a 'Been there ...Done that'...type of thing LOL
.
this was so neat I just had to share :D
§
Wow that is too cool! And then they row them to the new water?
I think so, from what I could tell from the all too short newsflash it looked as if they were in a canal maybe? Not sure ,I've never been to Germany and DH was not from that area.
