I have some of these... they spread SOOOOOOOO much! I cannot stop them! I started out with like 2 plants... and now I have hundreds in my flower bed! About a month ago... I cut them ALL down... and they keep coming up and up! I cannot get rid of them! But they have a BEAUTIFUL color! And then the flowers fall off at night... and then at day break... mine have got about twenty blooms on each plant EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I have sold them... given the away... And I just cannot get rid of them! But if you break off a tip of a plant... and put it in soil OR water... it will grow roots very quick! Same thing works if the plant is top heavy and falls over and breaks... You can just put in in water OR soil! I put mine in both! And I think the water makes more roots grow and then you have a good root system!

Hello everyone,
How do you care for the mexican petunia?
Thank you,
Lorraine

You care for them any way you want to. I have some that get neglected, and still they grow. I have some I water and trim down, and still they grow. I have some that I have in a pot in my pond, and still they grow. Some are in part sun, some in full sun and still they grow. They are everywhere. I love them, but they are trying to take over my yard. There are hundreds and the season is just now starting off. Most did not even die back all the way for winter.

Rylaff,
I have three plants in planters.I purchased them last spring and got flowers well into Oct. I moved them into the garage for the winter where they continued to grow during the winter. In april I moved them outdoors again. My problem is since they stopped produceing flowers and the end of last season they have not produced any this year other then one or two on each planr. The plants are close to six feet tall now. Any idea what I can do to start them blooming again....Joe

When mine get to leggy and tall, I trim them down. that seems to invigorate.
