This double had too many deformed flowers. Which means, it has two buds in one. For that reason, many buds drop because they are unable to open.
double to compost
What a shame.
Sad ~
I wonder what causes some of the flowers to be deformed. A genetic trait? Could it pass that down to its offspring?
Darn, do you have sisters of this one that are reacting correctly?
Monika, I too wonder what causes the deformed buds. I can see if you think it would carry on to offspring why you would compost it. Donna
Sorry Monika
This type of deformation is not inherited. It can be compensated by choosing the right pollinator. This plant has several sisters with correct double flowers.
I am happy Monika that some of the sisters turned out correct. No doubt, this happens some times in the best of circumstances.
That is too bad. Wish I had your compost pile before it became frozen. LOL!!
Shirley, it is still in the Greenhouse. To bring it outside, I have to cut it into pieces.
I sure wish I had your greenhouse space.
lets face it Brugie, you wish you had all that is Monika's! LOL.
Well, there would be something wrong if I didn't want all of her brugs and other flowers. I love her azaleas, her brick walkways, etc. I'd let her keep Frank though. LOL!! He has been with her too long to handle a change and I'm not sure she would want Jim.
LOL Brugie. Would you share and I don't mean Jim!
Kell and Brugie, you two are a riot.
Gosh Ada, can you tell that evenings get boring for me?
Then when you decide it's not up to your exacting standards, my address is:............lol
LOL Liz!
Wow Monika... It sure is pretty! Im sure glad you know what to look for in your many beautiful crosses.
I dont know that I would be able to throw away ANY cross I made.
Its obvious from all of your babies, that you know what you are doing tho.
I sure am glad you are around!
Thank you Shelley.
