Help my dog lifts his leg in the house

Hi everyone, I have 2 male dogs and once in a while they try to mark their territory by urinating by the couch leg! I have tried spraying the bitter apple but that seems not to work. Has any one had a similar experience and if so how did you solve the problem? It is not an option to get rid of them or hurt them in any way. Thanks for any help.
