Wanted-Easy pork rib recipe-grilled

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Welp folks...I know I can bbq a rack of ribs for hrs and hrs, basting, grilling, basting, etc.

Someone recently was telling me "their friend" used to steam/boil/whatever their ribs for so many minutes then throw them on the grill. However, they had no idea about the full ordeal.

Do you steam/boil the ribs till done? Cook them in a seasoned broth? Put them on the grill for a bit longer and baste? Baste with what? (Don't tell me a store-bought "ketchup", please. I like to make my own sauce.)

Does anyone do any of the above? And if so, what are the particulars?

(By the way, as you know, I'm a miser! Just picked up a couple small racks of pork ribs for less than half price and wanna make sure they turn out delicious!)
