Thanks to DGs I've learned about brugs and now, at last, I have flowers. They started opening up this afternoon. I thought about putting a chair out there and just watch them open. I've been babying them all summer and thought that I would never have flowers like I see here. I love this Southern weather, lol. I'm excited since this is my first! Thanks to Vi and every one else for all the help. And Mollybee, My name is George and I too am addicted to brugs.
I'm finally a Daddy!
awww congratulations George!!! LOL how exciting to have your very own!
Hey sweetie, so happy for you! I see the good DR on the left, who's on the right, did she bloom? Isn't the excitement everthing you've read about?
Make sure you stay out tonite and inhale 'em too (~;
And I see your Butterfly Ginger in the background, I bet your yard smells sweeeeet!
Now make sure you answer your mail!
LOL Trust me George, it only gets worse!! Next thing you know you'll be loaded down with new cuttings to baby over the winter and you'll be a proud pappy next year as will!
I think I started off with only about 3 and this year(my 2nd year having brugs) I have about 14! I just love 'em!
The smell is outta this world too isn't it?! The night smell is so pleasant when the smell of brugs come drifting thru my bedroom window nothing but sweet dreams for me LOL!
Molly is right...it just keeps getting worse or should that be better. The more you get, the more you want, but they are all beautiful and a plus to anyone's garden. Can't have too many brugs, right? Nice picture and I'm jealous of anyone who has bloom now. Not really jealous, just remembering what it was like a couple of weeks ago. Would love to have it all back again.
Congrats George. I know you are thrilled. Mighty healthy looking plant too.
Congratulations George. Your plant is beautiful. I hope you enjoyed the scent last night. :-)
What you mean George hasn't checked in this a/m??! I bet he fell asleep out there last night. Quick someone wake him up!
great looking brugs, George.
PoorGeorge, congratulations, a very pretty healthy looking brug. Can you leave outside all winter. Sure can't here, has been 10 to 12 degrees every night this past week.!! Donna
Thanks all. rutholive (Donna) since this is my first year with brugs I'm having to go with all the good info that I got from DGs members. I guess I'll leave the base and roots outside and cut from a few inches above the ground, then cut the plant into 10" pieces and plant some in water, some in dirt. Some cuttings upright and some laying on their side. Gee, so many ways that I have been told. Above the "Y" and so on. Sounds like what ever you do they will grow, lol.
Sometimes that isn't true George. I put three nice cuttings of my Aurea Pink in to root and they all three rotted. Maybe some are harder to root than others and this was one of them. I would get some cuttings started right now while you still have the plant blooming so that if something happens to them you can take more cuttings.
Poor George is now a brug addict. Welcome aboard.
Cindy
Thanks Brugie, that,s why I can count on ya'll at DGs to keep me on the right track. Always appreciate the help.
