Cuttings.

I have alot of cuttings in the greenhouse right now, some are getting a little tall right now, over two feet. I was wondering if I could take the upper growth and root that? They are softwood/semi-hardwood. Will it delay blooming if I take them before blooms happen on the cuttings? Thanks! :~) John

Yes, and Yes.

But I don't think the delay in blooming would be a big factor at this point, if you really want more cuttings to root.

John...You could use a little growth regulator to slow down the stretch. It could save you some work and could also reduce your risk of loosing the whole plant if the new cutting fails to root.

growth regulator? I want to drop the temp, but right now, I have cuttings rooting, so dropping the temp is out of the question. Any other growth regulators? Also, would a rooted semi-hardwood cutting do OK dormant when rooted in 8oz cup? I have alot rooted in 8 ox cups, and I am wondering if I should put them in bigger pots and let them get comfy in there pots before I make them dormant.

I wouldn't force dormancy on a new semi-hardwood clone; but then... ' I am a novice and a big 'chicken' to boot! ....I would be afraid I'd loose the plant. Maybe one of our experts will see this thread and post some tips for you.
...Growth Hormones... reduce the internodal spaces/distance on the plant with the end result being a shorter, bushier plant.
