It is really cold outside lately. Yesterday there was a brisk wind that made it bite right thru to the bone. I haven't ventured out yet this morning but it was suppose to get into the mid or lower 30s by this morning. Looking out the window tho I don't see any plants looking as tho it got that cold.
Between Tim and I we got the canna taken care of for the winter. He had cut off the tops off the day before and sort of lifted them from the ground, then let them set back down. I shook, pryied, etc. off the dirt as best I could and put each cultivar into a bag with its label for him to take to the basement. I hope we didn't miss any important ones. If they get mixed up somewhat it isn't all that big a deal. Almost none of them were IDed when I planted them.
The mulch should be delivered by 10 this morning and then Jack and I will go to town. We let Tim take our extra van again gave him the keyes to everything in case we aren't home when he gets here. He is a Mr. Mom handy man type person while his wife is a CNA in geriatric centers. The 6 year old girl gets out of school today at 11:30 so he will wait for her to come home and then bring her and the 3 year old boy with him. It's nice to have someone you can trust like that. Tasks on the list are getting done, just not quite in the order I had them listed or even on the day I had them planned. Oh, well. As long as they get done, it is ok.
I went kind of crazy at WalMart this week. Got the guys new work shirts, Jack new jeans, hit the clearance racks for myself, etc. I haven't gotten myself new clothes like this for nearly 8 years. It kind of feels good and I didn't even spend that much money. $13-$18 tops and capri pants that actually come almost to my ankles because I am kind of short legged for $1-$7 a piece. All are lighter weight but that is what I need for now and in the spring tho all are fall colors. At the cafe' I get so hot during Friday rush hour that I sometimes dress in layers to go to work and then start peeling them off as the evening goes on. We have a big fan that helps cool me, but it also helps to cool the hot foods as I dish them up. All the tops are multicolored to conceal spots and spills so that is a plus too. I'll have to splurge on some new sweat pants too if I don't lose
some serious poundage. All my larger ones are getting past being 'good' ones and will be taken for everyday and the ones that are still really nice are a mite tight so to speak. In other words, I look as tho I have been greased and poured into them.
Kyle got a call last night from his father-in-law that Holly is in the hospital. It seems she started having contractions on the way to work yesterday afternoon and went to the hospital instead. When Kyle talked to her she said the doctor is keeping her in the hospital until after delivery which will be within this next week. If she doesn't go into labor and deliver on her own before next Wednesday or Thursday the doctor will induce labor. He has a pager and will be notified as soon as genuine labor has started so he can go be with her. It's an hour drive at least if you stay within the speed limit. Something Kyle is not really known for doing. Now Kyle is under a lot of pressure to get the trailer ready to bring her and the new baby home. He'll have to get a master bed for them without her being there to help select it tho they have been looking for a long time. Jack and I will get a new matress for the baby bed we got them at WalMart or KMart today. All her furniture, dishes, pans, etc. are either in storage or her brother's basement so he will have to retreive those too. I'm sure Tim will help him a lot with all of it. Jack has offered to built new steps into the trailer made of expanded steel and other metal since the wooden ones broke on Monday. He will really have to get busy now and get this job done. This has been an interesting beginning to their marriage to say the least. But no more stressful than those of many military personnel.
I saw my regular doctor yesterday afternoon. She is just getting back from maternity leave. Anyway, the hip pain is caused by fluid in the joint. I thought it was another way of saying bursitis which I am all too familiar with but she says this is different. Wants me to see an orthopedist. I ask what he would do and I may go but doubt he will do anything. No one is going to put needles clear thru my hip into the joint and pull out fluid then put in another one and inject steroids while I am awake and she didn't think general anesthitic for even a few minutes would be an option offered. I will just live with it. It seems to getting a bit better so I won't rock any boats for now.
I guess I need to get started on the day. GOD bless and keep each and all of you.
