Hey, beggars can't be choosers. Be happy that you got them at all. You would have had to spend a fortune in the real world to get all those cuttings. lol

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

coleus will perk up with no problems John. just let them soak a while. Hope they all make it, sometimes when you get a package it's a little deceiving, and time and TLC will do wonders:)

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

Yep, they are soaking till the sun goes down lol, it is WAYYYY to hot in the greenhouse to be out there for more then like an hour :) true grannie

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Brugs especially, are very "forgiving". They should all perk up and be good as new, hope so.......

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Just think, it could have been worse. You could have a possum digging up all your plants like I do. Put out an animal trap yesterday and put cat food in it. This morning the cat food was gone, but no possum. He must be smarter than I am. lol

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

hey John, just a thought, but it would be awful if that sharpie marker smeared while under water. I'd take them and put in separate cups with names out of the water. just a thought.....

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

I had trouble with cats eating my brugs this spring, along with rabbits for some reason, they like them? I lost two cuttings between the two, oh, and the cats love rubbing on them. Just a tip, opossom LOVE chicken and they are really smart and use there hands to get at the food in the cage, cover the sides with a little screening, not enough so they dont want to get into the trap, but, enouh to keep there little hands out :)

A shotgun works well for possum, too.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

If you have ever ordered small rooted brug cuttings from on line catalog they cost 15.00 plus shipping. A 2" piece roots as well as a 6" piece. Unless it's really green you should have no problems.

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

nope, they are all perking up :) and will be potted up tonight :) or should I do water rooting? Donna, what place do you order from? :) Thanks! John

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

We trapped 3 possum this past week, they are digging my yard up, these guys were ugly, big teeth and long tails. Well not sure of there sex, didn't look. Hubby shot them, wondering how many more our around. I have seen several killed on the road this week. They must be moving around. Cathy

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Sorry forgot to mention, your brugs in the photo look good to me, they should do just fine, all nice size cuttings.

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

Yep, they are :) I am now VERRY happy with it because they are all perked up and starting to get real happy :)John

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I think we must have more than one also, because I don't think just one could do the damage that is being done all over the yard. I hate it because I had just planted a number of new daylilies earlier in the summer and they have dug nearly all of them up. Some of them I didn't see until they had lain on the ground and dried out to the point they died. You are right Cathy, they are ugleeeee!

By the way, how much gas will it take to get form San Antonio to Freedom? If you miss your variegated dat, you will know where it went. Oh yeah, you said you took it in the house. Darn it. LOL

Hey John, I'd really like some rooted blue color iochromas, if you ever have some to spare, maybe in the spring?!

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

I will eventually :) just remind me :)

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

??? Asking for cuttings and posting such thread? Did I miss anything?

I always am happy to get anything.

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

That's why we put the trap out, found several of my daylilies uprooted. Possums do a lot of damage for there size. I was praying is wasn't a skunk, I've seen some of them moving around lately. Sometimes were afraid to check the trap, might be a skunk in there.

With the price of gas it may take a bit of change to get here from San Antonio, and your right she's in the house for a long winters nap. I wish I lived in San Antonio with the nice winters you have. Cathy

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

Ludger, I was not asking for cuttings, I just wanted to share, The list above is what I will be getting on either saterday or monday :)

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Ok John, my remind was at your first posting in this thread.Sorry!!!
You are doing a good yob:-)

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Cathy, I hope it isn't skunk also. The neighbor who lives behind us said she saw a skunk in front of their house. Oh my, would hate to trap a skunk.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

minnie: I'm sure you'd know it if you caught a skunk.. Whew.......

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

If you do get a skunk in the trap, they don't have enough room to raise their tail and more than likely won't spray. The DNR told me to throw a blanket over the cage with them in it and move to someplace where they can be released. I thought to myself....no, I'll call you, you put the blanket over it and take it away. I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole. Fortunately, our skunks, yes skunks, moved on. We had a momma and several babies living under one of our sheds right behind the house. They are cute, but not something I want hanging around.

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

brugie, good thing you didnt get one in the trap! they WILL spray unless the cage is so small, it cannot move, in witch case you would not get a skunk in it because they like moving around. All they need to do is move there tail to the side and they will spray. They will not spray themselves, If you put a blanket over them, they cannot spray you, but letting them out of the trap is another story. My uncle used to be in the business, and he constructed this contraption you can put the cage into and let them loose and they cannot see you. If they see you, you are done for :~)

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Very......interesting! Learning a few things here, and it's not about plants.

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the information about trapping a skunk, I'll try to remember to throw a blanket over the cage if one ever get's in it. I saw a skunk the other day eating the grapes that came off of the grape arbor. I didn't see it until I was pretty close, so I just backed of slowly and watched from a distance, not sure if he know i was there. The possum we have been trapping have been coming out from under the deck around our pool. I hope we got them all, I would hate to have a mama having babies in the spring.

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

LOL, I tell you what, seeing like 12 babys hangging on the possum for dear life while the mother is trying to get away from something :) It really IS funny! :) especially when something scares them when the babys are off the mother! they jump and RUN as fast as they can and JUMP onto the mother :) I saw that at the wildlife rehab place I worked at for a short time. :)

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I forgot to say that my husband looked outside this morning and said "boy we caught a big one and it's white." I looked out and there was a huge white cat in the trap. Poor thing. Of course, that is not what has been digging up my yard. He just went after the cat food we put in the trap. lol My husband really thinks it is a possum or possums though, because before we put our fence up there was a family of them that lived under a transformer on the lot behind us. The other day he looked over the fence and he said he could see where something had tunneled under it again.

Our yardman came today and he said that possums loved to eat the worms that get in the mulched beds. And, like Martha Stewart would say, "I thought mulch was a good
thing."
At this point, I sure hope it's possums, because I sure as heck am not going to pick up a trap with a skunk in it. lol
