Photographed this at a friends house. It stands about 12/14 foot high and can be easily walked under,as I did.Reminded me of a light Grandma used to have.

Very nice holty!. My son is in Tasmania right now travelling around with his Sydney girlfriend. She has always told me that they are considered weeds in Australia. Yes?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Beautiful shot Holty. Was your grandmother's lamp one of the old ones with a hand painted shade?

Northern Rivers NSW, Australia(Zone 7b)

Dont know much about these but Liz, your sons girlfriend was being very polite. In some circles these are declared a weed (toxic) but so are 100s of other plants I know of.Depends on where you live geographically and socially ! Kell, the lamp had three or four "flutes" , a similar colour and I think may have been a reading lamp.Im talking 45 years ago and similar lamps now in mint condition are priceless. John

Thank you holty, I like my kidlet's girlfriend even better now, and I loved her before ~ she was being diplomatic. Her family is big into the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney, plants people.
What are your plant passions?

HOlty, neat picture, and nice to be able to look up into a brug bloom. I guess it is spring there. sure winter here. Has been from 10 degrees to 14 degrees the past four mornings. My ground is frozen. Donna

Liz, my plant passions depend on where I am living at any one time .Currently heritage roses, liliums and louisiana iris are the majors.(Have posted to these forums recently with pics). Also love to experiment with old world veges that are no longer available commercially.
Donna , yes summer is getting closer every day .Have never seem snow and the thought of frozen ground scares me but do love cold climate blooms.Have a photo somewhere I took of a commercial flower growers farm in very southern OZ with tulips in rows of colours going as far as one could see over the hills!John in OZ.Went into town this morning (30 miles away) and found a Brug growing wild, will post a pic next time I go into town and take a camera.
