JT, I bet it does smell good in there. You Culebra is so big and the blooms are lovely. I have never been able to grow that one . . I guess I need lessons.

Brugnanny,it took forever to get this to blooming size.Arlene sent me a small plant about three years ago.It
just bloomed this year.

I finally have a Y coming on mine. I hoping it will bloom this winter under my light. The plant is not very big. Maybe 2 feet tall. Does it always stay small?

Has anyone got a pod to set on Culebra yet?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I pollinated about 20 or so but they are still flowering. Mine is about 3' + and with the small flowers I don't mind if it does stay small.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

tiG do you think your crosses took or is it too soon to tell? I'd love to see what type of babies this one produces. I wonder if babies would have that strange narrow folliage.

Anyone have tips on rooting? I want to root a piece for someone but I'm scared!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Poppysue, if they are fat enough you can root in water like any brug. what Eric told me and i believe is true, is you have to keep them dry while rooting. i got mine from him a few inches tall in a gallon pot. you just can't water them til they start growing. once they are growing all day sun and water like other brugs. i rooted some over last winter, left them outside, covered with a flannel shirt on nights when it was supposed to frost.
Also, mine have bloomed on a may/november cycle. except in may it seems to get too hot and the buds fall off. you may not get blooms until may or december, will be interesting to see. this is the third year in a row mine has budded up and bloomed in november.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Interesting, Arlene. My weather is so different than yours. I'm just getting plants outside at the end of May.... and they're back in the house before November - LOl. If it doesn't bloom inside ... I might never see a bloom!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

maybe it'll adjust differently for you, will be interesting to see.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I hope so. It's under my MH light so we'll see. If it doesn't bloom it just may get the boot.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

I'm glad you have blooms JT, and you too tig. hope you both get some pollen to set!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

sue, it's too soon to tell yet. I didn't get one grain of pollen from it though :(

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

poppysue,I cut those small side shoots and stick in damp sand. Most seem to root.Tomorrow I'll get a picture of some rooting.I did let the sand dry completely and watered sparingly.

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Mine is about 2 foot tall and just starting to Y, Yippee!
