What is this??? I would like to know to BB

I have used this on both seed and cuttings.I consider it usless for this plant. It will give you long stemmed seedlings that collapse under their own weight and big plants from cuttings that are prone to disease.
If you want to experiment for yourself it is available in small quantities from J.H.Hudson,Seedsman.His address should be in the Garden Watchdog. It is fun to play with.
Annabellegabby,it's a plant growth hormone that occurs naturally in minute quantities.
Nothing beats manure.

Why do you want to speed up growth rather than letting them grow on their own. Also, how could one actually know what the normal growth habits of the plant were. I suppose if someone wanted to do it on their own and not have accurate records of growth, then that is their on personal business. For me, I would want to know exactly what the natural growth pattern of certain brugs and hybrids is.

Cool :) I will not order it :) thanks for the input! :)

Hi John, great to see you here at Dave's Garden.

There are many uses for Gibberellic Acid in Brugs and Datura!!!

One can stimulate germination of difficult or older seeds. It can be used to cause earlier flowering (HG?). It can also help pollinating incompatible plants.

It is also 'natural' occuring in a specific fungal growth.

However, I'd probably pass it up too, unless I get some to start some D. ceratocaula seeds which may not germinate without it!

I would like to add that it is highly cancerogen for humans.
I agree with Brugnanny!

:) I didnt ghost trust me, dave emaild me and he said my check was put in place and I jumped RIGHT on here and posted under monikas thread LOL :)

monika and brugnanny,
....I also disagree with ''artificially'' producing bigger plants through hormonal 'trickery'. To what end? These methods do not show the plants true potential.

well,I regesterd around then, but he sent the email on the fourth because my check had just got there :) I wonder what effect it would have on bananas? I am always looking for a way to speed up there growth. :) Or castor beans, mabey they can get to 20 feet in a year insted of 12-14? :) Mabey I will order it just to experement :) dose anyone know if nurseries use it for foliage plants? The product I wanted to order was called green thumb in a bottle LOL :~)

Pardancanda, can you be more specific about how you would use it to enhance germination? And also specifically how would you use it to cause earlier flowering and with pollination. I don't mean the scientifics, I mean the physical aspects, do you soak the seeds, what dilution, etc.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Mary, I would refer you to J L Hudson, who sells it from his website. As I mentioned above, I'd probably pass on it as well; hesitate to use anything like that with the pets around.

Like Monika told you: Watch it!!! It is a very cancerogen chemial. A chemist told me: VERY VERY.Not for use in private hands without protection.

It makes sence: Many plants will show monster growths....

Exactly right, Monika and Ludger. Anything which causes that sort of out of control cell growth is a dangerous carcinogen.
