I have these 'Salvias' in: red, pink, and blue. I have this salvia plant that I've had for several years... and it is giving off hundreds, and hundreds seedlings! I haven't yet started growing the blue ones from seeds... yet! I just got the seeds for them from Lowe's! I have thousands and thousands of these plants! I love them... and sometimes they let off a small flower not like any of the other ones they let off... it has five petals on it and it looks so cool... because it only blooms like once a month on my plant! It comes out the center, top of the bloom pods. And when the flowers fall off and die... the seed pod that it was growing in... turns brownish-black... and then there is a seed in it!

sassytiger, salvias (sages) are such great plants, aren't they. Their coming back every year is especially nice. I have some coming up now in November even in my grass! I feel sorry for these new plants if we have a frost early this year. I let them come up wherever they want and then I give them away or transplant them to another location. Sometimes I just let them grow where they want. I have several containers in which they popped up. I left them in the containers and they are a nice addition to the other plants. Do you have the coral nymph? If you don't, check it out. It is really pretty too.

I'll have to watch to see if my plants produce a bloom with 5 petals. It is very interesting to know that yours do. I have never noticed this before on mine. My neighbor bought herself and myself one each of these plants in early summer. This particular salvia (sage) has narrower leaves than my others and blooms very late in the season - we both kept waiting and waiting and examining our plants for buds. It was worth the wait. The blooms are a very brilliant dark red and smaller than my other salvias' blooms. The color really shows up, especially with the white stamens. I have posted another photo that shows the bloom head on. Thanks for your comments.

No, I do not have the coral nymph! What do they look like? I have never seen them before, either! I let them pop up where ever they want in my yard, too! I gave my neighbor ONE plant... and now she has about fifty of them! And she still has them growing everywhere! Do you have any of the white salvias? I don't have any of those! OR... do you have any of the blue ones? I don't have any of those either! I have alot of seeds from the pink salvias! Do you have any of that kind?

No, I don't have any white or pink, but I do have the mealycup blue salvia. It does not seem to reseed like the others. The coral nymph is shown in the photo below. They reseeded where I had planted petunias. They are a salmony pink, pink and white as shown below.

Those are the kind that I am talking about! The pink and white ones! You do have some of the blue salvias? I have always wanted some of those! Do you have any seeds from those? What other color salvias do you have? All I have is the pink and white ones. Like in that picture! But I have millions of those! They keep popping up everywhere! I can't stop them! But I like them because they fill up the empty space in my garden!

I have a few seeds from the sapphire blue salvia I promised to send you. I am hoping it will bloom again before the first freeze so I can gather some more to send you. My big old dog knocked the envelope in which I had them over and most of them spilled out. They are very tiny. I may just go ahead and send you what I have so far. I have another blue one, the mealycup.

Thank-You! I have some seeds of the pink salvias! Do you need any of those? Myabe we could trade?!?!?!?! I have one of those red 'fire cracker' salvias! But I don't know how to collect the seeds from it! Are they just as easy to collect as the ones from the pink and red salvias? Are you talking about the BLUE SALVIAS? I love those plants! I have never seen them anywhere I go! Is that what you mean... those are the other ones you are going to send me?!?!?!?!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

No, I don't need any of the pink. The seed collecting is about the same with all of them. Yes, the sapphire blue one you liked
