Devils Claw wanted

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

editing this as I forgot to say seed pods

hi all

I looking for some Devil's Claw seed pods. I'll pay for the postage and send it back by return. Less than 10 would be good but any amount less that that will be appreciated.

This is a photo of what I'm looking for.

Hi, are you planning a project or something with the nasty pods, I say nasty because they are pointy and pretty wicked!! But they are cool. Just wondered as I don't have any pods just seeds. (and it is tricky getting those seeds outta there!!)

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

That is realy rare that, I bet that you cant find it from here...

I like them to. No project with them just want them as a curio in my sun room

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I know people here have them, I just cannot remember who. You may want to do a search. I have seen people offer them to those that are looking. They may just not have seen your post. Now that you brought them up, they are one of those things I always mean to grow again. LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I know I have some,or had some...thinking DH got rid of them, they were stuffed in a 12 pack cardboard box ,he may have thought it was garbage

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Those are really neat. I saw some in an arrangement a couple of years ago but it was too expensive for my taste. Good luck with your search.

thanks

Mark, I see you have not yet found any pods, would you be interested in some of my seeds to grow them yourself?? If so let me know ok?
Thanks
Laurrie

Mark, have you ever grown the plants? If not, you should try them! They are quite interesting. :)

Laurrie, if you have any extra seeds, please E me. I don't think I saved any and even if I do find some, they are several years old! LOL

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

yeah but how big do they grow and how long does it take from seed to seed pod. The reason I ask is because some plants dont get to flowering stage here because our summers arent good enough.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

I honestly don't know how they would do there for you, with the weather being different than my zone 5, which they are trying to move up to zone 6 but I am leery of that one. Maybe someone who has grown them in similar zones would be able to help answer this better than I could.

I hope so.

I am in zone 6, probably a microclimate of 7. For me, if started indoors, they reach about 3x3 feet. My friend in VA said hers get about 5x5 and a friend in TX said about the same thing. They will self seed but not obnoxiously. It is just one of those curious plants that you have to grow at least once. LOL The leaves stay moist and have downy hairs. The flowers remind me of pink and yellow freckled snapdragons. Then you get these big furry green pods that peel open to reveal that wicked pod. They surely are bizarre! I plan to grow them again next year. I have seen some neat little reindeer and dream catchers made from the pods.

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

OK I'll accept some seeds please.

Are they annual or perennial?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Mark, I have been looking and can't really find any consistent info on the hardiness of these. I do know the seedlings are very easy to pull up and very easy to move. The leaves are sort of like huge African Violet leaves. I think I have something that will make you very happy though! I was speaking of these and my daughter informed me there was a coffee can full of pods in the fruit cellar. I guess I did not pitch them after all! LOL So if you still want 10-12, let me know! I don't know about the seeds being viable as they have been downstairs probably 3 years, but they were in a cool, dark dry cellar. Hmm....

OhioBreezy, would you happen to have any seeds or pods (I will get the seeds out of the pod if you don't want to deal with them)left to share? I saw these once growing in a lady's garden here in zone 7b and they were very unusual indeed. I would love to add them to my gardens too. Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I know people on here mainly by their DG name not their real name. The latter maybe less than 6.

I forgot about this post! I am pretty good with names. I don't get on here as much as I used to but that may change soon. I guess it depends which takes up more time-my soon to be previous job, or a new baby. LOL
