Thank you b&a. I just loved going to that garden. I think I took over 100 pictures! Not that I'm going to post them all! But FI wonder what happened to the title on this one. I guess I probably entered the information in the wrong areas.

This one is espcecially dear to my heart because I purchased one of these in the DBG shop. To my surprise, it actually bloomed this summer. There was a ring of little, but bright, pink flowers around the upper 1/3 of the top, like a dainty halo. I'd sure like to have been there when the ones in the picture were all in bloom!

Ah, I still can see little pink spots on it. I had a Mammillaria once, and it used to bloom all the time (I have a picture of it, but since I donīt know the species, I didnīt post it yet), but it was so small that the wind carried it away o.O (actually, it fell from my window, and since I live in the 8th floor, I lost it forever...)

Dear,
It is normal for a species of the genus Mammillaria to flower in a ring arround the plant. They are also names nippel cactus. There is only a very small difference between the Mamm. hahniana, the Mamm. woodsii and the Mamm. mendeliana. Mostly they are all considered as formas of the Mamm. hahniana.
When you can keep the plants (all mamms) during wintertime at a temp. not over the 11°C, and practicaly dry, you may be sure that they all will flower. Flowering ,for this genus, starts as from february and the last representatives of the genus will flower during december (M. plumasa f. exemple). I personaly have a collection of about 700 Mamm's, making part of a total collection over the 40.000 plants, and this (in Belgium) in a heated greenhouse.

Nice photo roshana. I like the light and shadows which show the shape of the plant beautifully.

Do you happen to have any extra cutting from this plant? Or do you happen to have any extra seeds? I have some "Salvia" seeds I could trade you!

ST,

Sure wish I had some cutting of this plant or even seeds! The one I purchased has no babies yet. And the original picture was taken at a botanical garden about 2 days drive from me! Good luck finding them.
