Wow! What a list, Flowerjunkie! Your yard must look like a botanical garden!! You name truly reflects your passion!
i am so excited about my coming sign!
Working away on everyones signs---they are turning out beautifully---if I have to say so myself--- I just realized I need to make myself some! Well maybe after I get all the bulbs I want!!!! Tracy
Hi Tracy,
Did you get your box from me yet? I'm hoping you got it yesterday. Let me know if I included everything you wanted.
Thanks,
Daisy
Daisy---- It didn't come yesterday---It probable will get here tommorrow! No mail today--Tracy
Hi Roshana,
Yes. I have 3/4 of an acre and two green houses. One for tropicals and one for sucullents. I spend all my free time (which isn't much)dividing, moving, potting, cuttings, fertilzing my plants. I like coming home to have beauty meet me at the car.
Daisy
Hi Tracy,
Did you ever get my box of plants I sent for the garden sign? I really hope you got it.
Daisy
Daisy--- I did receive them! Did you not get my email? Your sign is next to make and ship! Thanks so much and I am sorry if you did not receive the HUGE thank you! Tracy
Flowerjunkie--just read your list of plants. I'm impressed! And you ARE a "flower junkie" LOL
Hi Wandaflowers,
Thank you! But, this list is not even 1/2 of the plants I collect and grow. I have an 8X8X8 succulent hot house with shelves that is full of all kinds of succulents and what didn't fit in that house in the garage (next year it will be bigger), a 12X16X9 hot house that a friend help me build filled with tropicals and what didn't fit in that house is in my home, plus everything in my flower beds. I just put in a new ginger bed last week which is 4X10. It took me two afternoons (it gets dark here so darn fast you hardy have but and hour and a half at the most to dig) and a muscle relaxter each night due to the sore back and leg muscles...OUTCH! This is in addition to the huge beds I have all over my yard. I maintain all of this by my self and have a full time job as an outside technical sales person and a part time job selling suppliments. At 48 and only 5'2" I think you could say I'm the type that bites off more than she can chew! But as they say "Beauty is hard work!"
Daisy
Hi flowerjunkie,
I'll be 48 on Fri. and am also 5'2". Think we're twins? I LOVE flowers too but can't imagine the impressive list you have, plus the GHs - just a dream here! Kooger
Hi Kooger,
Can't imagine living in zone 4b, Zone 8A is too cold sometimes. My list all started with growing pothos ivy. When I didn't kill it I realized I had my Grandmother's green thumb. I kept adding plants that I liked to my yard and soon it got way out of control. My yard looks an awful BROWN right now. Thank God for my green house where I can escape to spring anytime I want.
Keep dreaming of your greenhouse and soon it will become a reality. They are not that hard to build and don't really cost much if you do it yourself and start small. Everyone here can help with ideas and ways to cut on material cost. Check out the GH forum. You'll be amazed.
Daisy
Thanks for the encouragement Daisy. My DH is very handy and hopefully a GH will be in the near future. I have already read about some great ideas here on DG. Merry Christmas! I have time to spend on the puter b/c our family party is moved to Fri. since my son is sick. It looks like influenza A and we don't want 81 yr. old MIL exposed or 3 yr. old granddaughter. He came home at 2:30 am sick. YUCK!
I have large gardens, but I feel like a "newbie" compared to some of you! A greenhouse sounds great, but Iowa winters can make them expensive to maintain. Maybe when I win the Lottery...
ooh flowerjunkie!
what an impressive list you've got there.. lol
i wish i had half of the stuff you've got on your list...
*sigh*
i'm just a beginner i suppose
lol
what would i have to do to get some of your devil's backbone?
lol
do i sound overly pathetic with my begging?
if i do, just let me know and i'll tone it down to just a little bit of groveling :)
Kim
Hi Kim,
Just send me your address and I'll get a rooted Devil's Back Bone out to you for postage.
Daisy
One little item this little bombshell didn't tell you about herself. She is also a grandmother! And if you saw her, you wouldn't believe it.
Busybee & Lalady called me short but I'm an inch taller than Daisy!
Hey Linda
No fair! You were wearing heels! Call me. I have something for you.
Hey Tracy--did you receive my last email? I haven't heard from you and was wondering if everything was okay. If you see this post, please contact me and let me know if all is doing better for you and your family. Thanks.
Hi Tracy,
How's my sign coming along???
Daisy
Daisy---did you ever hear from Tracy? I am wondering if she and her family are doing okay. I haven't heard from her either and the last I heard her family was dealing with that serious flu.
Hey CountryBumkin,
I have not heard from Tracy since November when she posted a note to me here. She has never contacted me. I did a search on threads and it looks like the last time she posted anything was December 10th...check it out.
http://davesgarden.com/t/409103/
Let me know if you find out anything. I had that nasty flu and it took me three months to give over it but I only wanted to die for about two weeks of that time, the rest of the time I was kicking it.
Daisy
I'm wondering about her as well. I received seeds from her on January 8th and posted thank you notes to her on a couple of forums, but I don't think she's been on-line. I sure hope she's okay! Gretchen
Im still waiting on a trade from her but I know she and her kids had all come down with the flu,but it has been a while since Ive heard from her at all. Hope everything is ok.
I'm still waiting on my trade! Are you over the flu yet???
Just wondering too if my sign is ready? Been anxiously waiting since last November??? I've sent emails to you but haven't gotten any response from you. Hope all is now well with you and yours.
For anyone that Tracy did not get her end of the trade out please contact me for I am trying to feel her end of the trade- I can not do the woodburning signs but I can paint you one to go in the garden with something you choose to go on it. If this in not acceptable I have some named daylilys or perennials for sun or shade that I can trade. I do not know what you sent her and have no way of tracking that down but I will do the best I can do to get an even trade. Yes this is my sister and NO we are not the same- We were living with each other at this time and she had a life changing drastic experience that I have told Dave about and I do not care to air my familys dirty laundry on here because my father and I enjoy this site also. So if you would like your end of the trade please feel free to email me and lets see if I can clear her name! Marie
How very kind of you and I mean that sincerely, not sarcastically. You have character!
Kooger- I am wanting to get their trades out for I do know what it is like to not receive my end of the trade but I have received such wonderful trades that they seem to over ride the losses, but I am willing to send whatever I can out of my garden. Marie
