WOW!
Talk about a complicated flower. That is spectacular. Great shot.
Sort of reminds me of the head of one of those "Dragons" that dances through the streets during Chinese New Year.

I love unusual plants and this one fits the bill, I wonder why they call it white with all the color it has?

windsurfer,

The ears, thats two folding leaves in the shape of a bats ears which unfolds from the pod, looks silky white with light purple veins after about two weeks.

George4tax,

U R right george ,it does reminds me of the dragon or lion dance ...the beard.
The ears will turn deep purple after 30 to 40 days and the seed pod in the shape of a pyramid will unfold its three petals and reveal seeds 5 to 6 in a pod about the size of a grape seed.

I have a few questions,I was wondering how long you've had this plant, if you've have planted any of the seeds from it and if so how long does it take for the seeds to mature?

Windsurfer...Hi!

Ok i had this plant for almost 4 months now .
Am trying out the seeds now and i will let you know exactly how long it takes to germinate.
Once you have the plant, there will be no problem for you to get the young plants from the tuber.
I have two varieties of the specis and looking for a few more.

I read that it takes two to three years for them to bloom, I would be real interested in hearing how your seeds turn out.

I can't wait to get my starts from the co-op and then hope I can grow them without killing them. Your pictures are beautiful. This is going to be a fun plant to have.

Wonderful photo! I agree with the reference to it having the look of a chinese dragon...more the reason that I'm happy to be purchasing two varieties of this beauty!
