Common name: Red Powder Puff
Family: Fabaceae
Genus: Calliandra
Species haematocephala

I am rather puzzled at the size of the foliage in relation to the size of the flower.
Floridian's picture of the same C. haematocephala is closer to what I happen to know (smaller leaves).
Can someone help and clarify this question ?

I thought they were more wispy in appearance, I think that's because the State of Florida just put them in along the side of their new road, maybe with time they will develop broader leaves.....
I believe my son has a Powderpuff-calliandra bush. He lives in WinterSprings, Florida just east of Orlando. He says he has seen Hummingbirds around it. I didnot see any when I was there. I am making a Hummingbird Garden and would like to add this. If anyone who has this plant and has seen Hummingbirds. Please let me know.
This image is of Calliandra emarginata, a more delicate and more tropical species with smaller flowers and larger but fewer leaflets in each compound leaf. It does not survive outdoors in NZ below about 8 degrees celsius whereas C. haematocephala does well in frost-free conditions down to zero degrees celsius (32deg F).. here.
