does anyone else have humpteenthousand moth pollinated seed pods on their brugs? This is at least 30 taken off of versicolor peach today. I have them on all of my plants and just pull them off. I'm not going to deal with all of those seeds.
My hybridizing program goes into effect next year and will be very limited to the plants that I will use. Of course trashing these moth crosses i'm probably throwing away the first U.S. double pink. I'd kill myself if I found that to be the case later on.
moth pods
Wow! Busy little devils!
I haven't had any moth pods. I haven't even seen a moth in a bloom here. I'm not even sure those type of hawk moths exist around here.
I have quite a few myself all from moths.
I have never seen a moth here.
I only saw a couple of the hummer moths this year and only had six or eight moth pollinated pods appear. There were lots of them last year.
The same thing has happened here. I had a bunch of
Pink Spotted Hawk Moths coming around every night for a long time, working the brugs for hours. I never had any pods on my versi's before, but they and all the other brugs are loaded now. It's like every flower turned in to a pod.
Here's one of them on Whiskers.
I had them buzzing around here every evening just before dark and there were many. I will not keep any of those pods either. Time is too valuable to grow them and so is the space. I have been fortunate enough to have a dear friend who supplies me with some exceptional crosses and that is what I have planted now and some are already a couple inches tall.
I have a lot of moth pollinated seeds too....
I still grow them out,you may be pleased by what you get.....
