Ginger buds dried up

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I didn't think they'd make it,I'm sure I did some damage when I dug the sucker up....,but the plant still looks great,my question is,do I cut back the stalks that had the buds on them and continue to let it grow ,or leave it alone?

Nobody knows?

g'morning cc, I am just seeing your thread now. I would wait and let it die down. The dying foliage feeds the rhizomes, just like with other bulb and rhizome plants. Even my gingers are looking shabby right now, they are responding to the shorter days and going dormant (some of them anyway) Your ginger might just look like it is dying, but it might just be going dormant. Gingers are pretty hard to kill. What kind is it?

I agree with Lisa. Just leave it alone and let it do its thing. Ginger is pretty tough stuff.

Oh , the plant itself looks great,it was only the buds that dried up
Heres a picture I just took,

what is it and how to I winter it over?

CC, it kinda looks like a hedychium. Is the bud at the top going to bloom, I can't tell...or is that one of the buds that bit the dust?

All the buds(4 ) dried up,the plant itself looks fine, what I want to know is do I cut the canes that have the dried up buds, since,I am guessing here, they won't set new buds.....
