Water garden enthusiasts now have a national organization dedicated to the "enjoyment, education, promotion and protection of the water gardening hobby."
North American Water Garden Society is a new, nonprofit organization that plans to address issues of concern to water gardeners. The group plans to be active in public education and regulatory issues nationally. Issues at the forefront of NAWGS' agenda: water restrictions, plant and fish regulations, mosquito-borne pathogens such as West Nile virus; and national standards for building, safety and insurance regulations. Ellen Beaulieu is the first administrative director.
