Angel's Trumpet "donations" for my sister Candy

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Hello my friends,
Most of you know if you've visited the Prayer Request forum that my sister Candy is very sick. She's in and out the hospital every other week...staying 1-2 weeks at a time. She can't hold her food down due to her stomach isnt working anymore, so she's had a pace maker placed surgically on her stomach to jolt electricity to it so it will help her to try to digest....(this was an experiment and new, done in Atlanta) She is Diabetic...stage II, is 34 y.o. and has two little ones at home. Her husband is assuming alot of the responsiblity for them along with myself & mother. She needs cheering up :-)

She was told she may have developing the beginning stages of pneumonia.

I guess why Im telling all of you this is ...I have given her a copy of all the prayer's listed on the Prayer request forum and given her a Lamb's ear plant that Badseed gave me to give her...she was really happy to know that people would pray for her and not even know her, not to mention give her a plant.

She saw some pictures of "Angel's Trumpets" cos' I keep talking about them. She said she would also like a few. So Im asking, in the name of love, and friends... if there's anyone who would like to donate them...cuttings to her, I would greatly appreciate it.

I will help her with them. She has a place to store them in her garage with windows and a wonderful front porch for them to watch in the summer, I'll tend them.

Here she is after receiving the Lamb's ears...I got her to smile :-)

Im sorry to those of you who think this is too long, but I am doing everything I can, while she can...enjoy beauty of God's creations. And also to feel the love of other's.

Edited to give update on Candy...Admitted again on 11/12/03

You are a wonderful sister, and I will pray for both of you. Wish I had some cuttings to send, but all I have are the cuttings that I have received lately. I know there are so many kind and generous people here that you will get a lot of them for her to enjoy. I pray that God will lay his healing hand on her and she will recover from this devastating illness. She still has a beautiful smile, even while going through this trying time.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Mini, you are so sweet. I feel so selfish because I can do this, she cant. She is the one who is wonderful to me ...thank you for your kindness. Julie

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Annabelle, I will have some cuttings in a few weeks from my brugs and will be glad to send her some. Mine are in their best blooming time right now, but I will have some soon. send me your addy.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Roz & minigrannie, Thank you for being so understanding and kind. Your thoughts will be appreciated by myself and my sister. Im going to surprise her.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I can send you some for her right now.
Give me your address.
Alice

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I will keep your sister in my thoughts, Julie. She is so young to be so challenged.

I will be happy to send you some cuttings but is your garage warm enough? I have found that cuttings unlike mature rooted plants need to be kept growing in the winter to form good roots. You will lose them if you let them "go dormant."

If you rather, I can send you some rooted plants in the spring.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Kell,
I have a nice warm place for them in the winter. Also there is a room that is vacant that I will make a special place for them. I will tend them along with her at first.

Cuttings would be wonderful and she would be so happy to have them. Thank you Kell. {{{{hugs}}}}

Wish you had posted a couple of weeks ago and I could have helped also. I may still have something to help you with in the spring if you will write to me then. I hope all goes very well with your sister and that she will enjoy what others are sending her. You are a special person to think of making your sister happy and I commend you for all you have done and will be doing for her.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Brugie. I know she will. You should have seen her face when I brought to her what Badseed sent. It was a fuzzy little Lamb's Ear and she absolutely adored it. You can tell she liked it in the picture. The only way I could talk her into letting me take her picture was to tell her it was for the People who are praying for her at Dave's Garden.

She will appreciate anything of God's creation. When I saw the look on her face when I showed her a pic I had printed out of an Angel's Trumpet...she smiled and said she would love to have one of those. My only wish is for her to have something to look forward to, she has a hard time coping from day to day not only with her health, but what's coming.

She led her children to Christ, and both are now baptized. The youngest one was on Sunday. She couldnt be there to witness it, but we all knew that she was the one who taught and loved him enough to lead him to the path of Jesus.

Thank you Brugie and all who have posted to this thread

Annabellegabby:

The Lord is all powerful and he can heal Candy. I will pray for her and her family.

The following prayer is one that Candy can pray. It's from The Essential Catholic Prayer Book:

Prayer For Healing

Jesus, you are my deliverer, the true physician who comes all the way from heaven to visit the sick. I put myself into your hands. Help me to resolve to put all my trust in you alone and to patiently undergo any treatment. If you will not heal me, my Savior, my case is beyond hope. But if I am to be healed, it is you, Lord, who will heal me. You alone uproot the sickness and give me lasting health. You are my salvation and life, my comfort and glory, my hope in this world and my crown in the world to come. Amen.

Lord Jesus, I humbly bow before you asking you for mercy. Please have mercy on your servant Candy, on her husband, their children, and their entire family. Please touch Candy, Lord, and heal her body. Please wrap your strong arms of protection around her and keep her safe. Please use her as a beacon of hope for someone who's in darkness Lord. Please allow Candy, through your healing, to bring glory, honor, and praise to your holy name. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I had an incident with a tomato hornworm (thanks to Brugie's identification)so I cut up my Golden Lady over the weekend to start again. I was also growing a Jean Pasco that I started from Ebay cuttings last year but I didn't like it's form so I cut it up also. LOL I have an Ecuador Pink whose form I do like :-)but I would love to take cuttings for beautiful Candy. Please e-mail me. XOXO

Im at a loss for words to describe the beauty in what you just posted and I felt it to the depths of my heart and soul. You are so kind and sweet to have prayed for her, her family and all who care for her.

Thank you, you have me in tears, but of joy knowing you cared enough to do that.

God bless you Delecie. I will read this to her. Going to print all of these out and read to her. She needs uplifting right now and I feel the Lord working through you and all of those who care. Thank you

Annabellegabby, so sorry to hear of your sister's illness. I do hpe and pray for her to feel better. i have no datura so can't send anything other than my sincere prayers. Donna

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Donna, for your prayers. Each one means so much and is most appreciated. That means more than you will know. She's a sweet sister & a loving mother, she deserves something to look forward to, and this is just one of the ways I hope to help her achieve that.

To see her nurture a plant from roots, to leafs, to blooms of beauty, then to seed...I know she will love this, and everyone here helping me to make a pretty smile or a ray of sunshine into her life...I thank. Prayer's are a part of that. Thank you Donna (rutholive)

Oh Ludger, thank you and I will do just that, but with an extra strength hug from the both of us. Well not too hard. Your prayer's are greatly appreciated Ludger. I thank you for saying them, and Im sure my sister will say the same. It's not everyday you meet someone so far away that will pray for you...She is truley blessed and so am I. She will see these posts, I promise.

As I said before, my only goal is to see that pretty smile come back, even put some hope in her life and to be able to watch the beauty of the pretty blossems bloom and that includes friendships too. Thank you

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Annabelle, I'm sure it puts a smile in her heart just to have you near. It sounds like your the best sister a gal could have. I'm hoping Candy gets well soon and can enjoy those brugs all the more.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Sue, youre the best, thank you. I do try to be a good sister, she's 10 years younger than I am but I remember when they first diagnosed her with diabetes. She was 2 y.o. at the time. I was 12. I remember having to practice on an orange to give her shots so my mom could go to work. I remember the days when she was little having to trick her into eating. At this time of the year it was the hardest though. Halloween...going trick-or-treating was never the same and I never enjoyed it, ever.

I have to be a good sister, I love her so much and I want her to know that. I wish I could do something to help her, this is just so little compared to what big monster she carries everyday.

Thank you all for helping me to make her day alittle bit better. At the end of the day, we will all be blessed for our prayer's and the blessing of knowing we made someone who suffer's just simply "smile"

(Judith) Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Annabellegabby, I'm new to this forum, but I want you to know that you and your sister are both in my prayers. It's just so hard to watch someone you love suffer and not be able to do anything. I pray that God will strengthen and heal Candy, and sustain you as you care for her. You are both blessed to have each other. May God's peace be yours.

Judith

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Judith, Im lucky to have her. Thank you for taking time to show you care. It is very hard to watch, I just said that this morning to my daughter. I spoke to my sister and she just started talking about apprentices in the conversation about doctors we were having. It's a scary, and very emotional time for me right now. I dont think she really know's she's confused unless someone makes her totally concentrate and realize she said something that doesnt make sense.

Thank you for your prayers.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Annabelle,I did not see this post earlier, bless you for being such a caring sister and I pray God will watch over Candy

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Shirley, that means alot coming from you and I thank you. You are one of the first to befriend me here on DG's and have stood by me. Means alot to have friends. Im just trying to do the same for Candy too.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Annabelle, I hope things get better soon for your sister. I know it is very difficult to watch someone that you love dearly go through all that your sister has. I can see from the above post that there is going to be so many brugs for your sister to care for when she is able. I hope that they bring much joy to her and I know that you will be helping her with them. May God bestow his blessing on all of you.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you BrugNanny, that is just what God is doing, he is helping me, in turn helping her, know that she has friends out there pulling for her and want her to get better just as we all do.

I think that we have enough coming for Candace. She won't be doing it all alone, I'll be there for her just as I am always.

Everyone who said they would donate to Candy's Garden of Angel's trumpets...I want you to know that she is going to be surprised and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me give Candy something to wake up and look forward to each day.

Thank you all who donated. I want to see a smile on her face knowing all of you are out there caring and keeping her in your prayers.

So we will end the donations, but keep her in your prayers daily. God Bless each and every one of you.

I have made some new friends here and getting to know some that I already knew alittle more. What a blessing.

Your friend in Christ
Julie

Annabell- Since the cuttings are taken care of I'd like to send a care package to the kids if that would be okay. I bet they need some cheering up as well. If you can send me their ages and a address I'll start my shopping this afternoon. I'll even toss something in for hubby, LOL.... He sounds like a great man.

Your sister is in my thoughts and prayers.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Kristi, I think that is such beautiful thing to do. How thoughtful of you. My heart breaks for those kids, They are going through alot. Thank you so much for your concern. She will be so greatful, as well as her DH.

To all of you who have posted here ... I have been a casual visitor to this site for a couple of weeks, hoping to learn new and wonderful things from all you experts. What I've learned today is the most wonderful of all. The "community" is so much more than a group of people with a common interest in plants -- you have a common interest in each other. Bless you ALL! What a marvelous support system for Annabelle and Candy. I don't know about brugs yet, but here is my best yellow rose for Candy.

Welcome sharyv. May you be blessed also.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Sharyv, and you are so right. These people are touching not only my heart but my sister's, and her family too. You can be sure of special people here at Dave's Garden, they have been a wonderful support to me. I hope you will join us soon.

God bless you

Julie

Edited to say what a beautiful yellow rose Sharyv. Did you know that the yellow rose is a symbol of friendship? It's always been my favorite color rose. Thank you so much...it means alot.
