Can someone tell me about their pet that may have epilepsy and is on phenobarbitol? I would like to know what effect if any it has had on a normal life for a dog and if it has controlled the seizures.
One if my dogs has been on it for three weeks now and I would just like to have some feedback of any experiences anyone has had.
She was having a cluster of seizures back on Labor Day weekend. She went to an emergency hospital here and continued to have them and stayed the night. After three shots of phenobarbitol and a valium dose she slept until late in the day and had one additional seizure. It was a terrible thing to watch.
Also any help in how to prevent her from hurting her feet when she has them at night in her crate would be appreciated.
I want to switch her bed from a metal to a plastic one so she does not kick into the bars. What do you think? I pull her out of the bed when possible to prevent her from hurting her feet. She breaks her toenails at the base from the banging and they are bruised and she limps as the result. I keep them short, but this does not seem to help.
