My garden is as of today officially to bed. I finished building two new beds with yard brick, relocated the arbor and topdressed everything with a yard and a half of rotted horse manure. The tools and hoses are even put away. Sooo; I've been reading my master water gardener book which just arrived and have sunk into depression. It seems that all the plants I would like to have require "full sun". This is not the description which springs to mind when glancing at my yard. How much sun is full sun in an 18 hour of daylight world? Is some sun (such as morning) better than other sun? Are the books untrustworthy (in the same way that half the cookbooks in this world are)? Or do I just ignore the rules and plant anything I like and pretend it will do just fine.
the definition of full sun??
Here are some definitions..

Thanks for the link. I think its time I did some scientific measurements of various areas in the garden. Another project - whooppee!
you know when I worked the the Nursery, garden, that is........we used to say quality sun is between the daytime hours of 12-2pm.........full sun between 11-4pm.....and dappled shade is generally 1 1/2 hours in the morning or the afternoon! E.
