Great decorations. I think I will come trick or treating at your house! What kind of candy do you give out? the tiny cjhocolate bars or the big ones?? you look like you would give the big size!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

no Kell! u do not want to go south. we are heavily laden with thick smoke. it is so hard to breath outside.

last night and this morning, the skies was clear. no anymore since 5 p.m. when Hesperia is now also heavy laden with extra thick smoke from the fire of Big Bear and Devore.

because of the fire, i heard on the news all mails in So. Ca. will be temporarily stop until the fire clears. i do not know the rest of So. Calif. but in our area, the main depot for mail is located in San Isidro, Ca. - close to the Ramona fire in San Diego.

here is a shot i took this morning @ 9 a.m.

That is so terrible Ma Vie! I am so glad to see you posting. Are you feeling better?

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Kell, been more concerned about the fire for over a week now. no time to worry about personal health, more concerned of personal safety at the moment. it is nerve wracking to see those flames flaring into the skies each night. the entire neighborhood here seemed to be on a night watch to keep check if the fire will come down to our area. not tonight though. the entire place is filled with heavy thick smoke. tonight is the 1st time, we do not see fire along the ridge of the mountains.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

That sounds so scary! I remember watching the October 1991 fire in the Oakland-Berkeley hills which destroyed over 3,000 homes and apartments. I was so afraid it would sweep thru the flats. Yours seems so much worst.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

well, no way of telling how this fire will turn out to be. the trees around the Big Bear mountain areas are dead eaten away by some beetle bugs the size of a grain of rice. the beetles devoured tall trees in no time. these trees are now causing all the fire to flare up.

it is really scary, most of the freeway is closed. east bound on highway 18 is close due to the Big Bear fire. if we go west, we will encounter the Simi Valley fire. our only alternative is to go north either to last Vegas or No. Calif.

if we are forced to evacuate i think we will head towards Bishop until it is safe to come back. we have packed the van with bare necessities. worst gets to wort, we are ready to move out in a moment's notice.
